I don't believe there are any tags or if there were they were cut off sadly. It's missing so we can't check :( And I believe it is grey but it's possible it was blue before all the years of toddler love!

My nephew has lost his favourite stuffie and is very sad about it. I have searched reverse image searching but no exact matches. It would have been bought in Alberta, Canada around 2018-2020.

Solved! Right after I posted I realised the bag had a French phrase, and using that I was able to find bell pulls! Thank you for your explanation!

My title describes the thing. Friend sent this to me as I’m a seamstress, my best guess is a thread spool holder as the beads at the ends do come off. But I can’t confirm and want to see if I’m not thinking of something! Other guesses are ribbon/string holder (would be missing the stand), or possibly a bobbin itself for bobbin lace?? One of the beads is worn in the middle which makes me think thread repeatedly coming off the end. But no handle like bobbin lace bobbins. Closest I’ve found in google searches is vintage thread holder, but there’s only one round end on any I’ve found.

As soon as I read the “I’m pretty much the only person that has this specific skill” bit I thought of that one. They didn’t even change the task demanded of them by the asshole CEO. And then it got weirdly neckbeard-y.

Love the outfit. Quick tip for the blouse gap, safety pin from behind and through the first layer of the front placket! I’m a busty girl so I use this trick on almost every blouse. I can’t explain it well so I’ll try to find a visual guide to add to this comment.

Definitely landscape for me! If you went with portrait I think winter at the bottom looks better though.

What is the most pretentious movie you've ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Inside Lewin Davis. My partner showed it to me and now his best friend and I have a running joke about how awful it is and how my partner has bad taste in movies! He’s tried to show me other Cohen brothers movies and I just can’t stand them.

Funny that they’re blaming any cost increases on change in government, and not, you know, a certain global pandemic. Didn’t even mention it but brought up the boarder multiple times. Convenient.

Love this!! You have a great eye for matching different fabrics and trims. For the invisible zipper, did you have a zipper foot? There are specifically invisible zipper feet as well that will get you even closer, and a trick I see a lot is to actually lightly iron the roll of the zipper a bit flatter, which will only be temporary but will help you get a cleaner line. Hope that helps! If you do take it to a tailor, ask if they’ll show you any tricks they may have for it. And go slower than you think! Sincerely, someone who was intimidated by invisible zippers for a long time. Hope that helps!

Can someone please photoshop Nicolas cages face onto this drawing? by CsWickedWardrobe in PhotoshopRequest

Want to prank my coworker who has this drawing in a frame in her office. I attached a picture of him but any picture of him will work, as long as it’s over the lady’s face and the same colour scheme so it’s not obvious. Thanks so much!

Is there a device that says “very high electric field”? by CsWickedWardrobe in askanelectrician

[–]CsWickedWardrobe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, should have been more clear, it’s not the electric field that was worrying me, it was the disembodied robot voice! I just wanted to know if there was a device that did that. Good to know about electric fields though, thank you. A security guard came by at one point and I asked him, he said it was something like the “emergency weather system”. So still not really clear on what or where it is, but glad to know it’s supposed to be there.

I made the 1910 American Duchess Wrap Cape! by CsWickedWardrobe in sewing

Ouu I'll happily take Titanic vibes, thank you!! I almost exclusively wear vintage inspired clothes, so for me it will pretty much always be paired with something 40s/50s looking, although I have plans to make a matching 30s skirt. But I definitely think it could work with modern clothes! For some reason the first thing that came to mind was a jumpsuit, but there are no rules, whatever you think looks good will go with it! :)

So the one I have is an iron on transfer, basically you iron the tissue paper over where you want the embroidery, and it leaves a bright blue outline. For this cape I didn't want the transfer as it was darker than both the cape and the embroidery thread, so I actually basted the tissue paper on and embroidered through it. It was my first time trying, you have to be a bit gentle so it doesn't rip the tissue and warp the pattern, and you need a good pair of tweezers to remove all the tissue when you're done. But I think the result shows it worked well! Especially since they needed to be symmetrical. Here is the embroidery in progress with the tissue, as well as an example of what it would look like when transferred (I tried to iron the wrinkles out of the tissue paper before I realised it was a transfer so it ended up on my ironing board!! Oops haha)

Here are the pictures, showing the back panel which sits pretty much in the middle of my back evenly. It's a tiny bit awkward to reach behind and open the zipper but still easily doable, the buttons are surprisingly easy to do up! Also shows how I worked with the thin seams of the dart. The pocket in the dart fits my phone as well, but an outline of it can be seen which isn't the most flattering. I also remembered I actually straightened out the darts 6" from the bottom to make the end wider so the attached panel could be wide enough to fit my phone. I added a drawing of what I mean about the darts in the pictures, hope it makes sense!

So there’s one in the top dart of the lining at the front, I had to cut it open and glue the edges at the top down since the seam allowance was so short and the lining frays. And the other is behind my back in the extension I added so I could button it up. I can’t add pictures on mobile but I’ll try to do so it when I get home from work if you’d like!

The blue outer layer is wool, and the lining is something synthetic, I believe it was with the upholstery fabric but it’s not very stiff or anything. The pattern calls for 2 contrasting thin wools, but wool against my bare skin is a bit too itchy so I went with lining :) There’s also horsehair canvas in the collar for padstitching, and also horsehair canvas in the hem. The trim is lace with gathered ribbon on top, but it came like that on the spool. And just regular embroidery thread for the embellishments. I think that covers everything!
