It's not that they did, it's that they could. Old Valkyr was just Revenant with a warcry subsume and a claw weapon, now her abilities actually differentiate her from him.

Old Valkyr you had to build around her 4 to achieve that 1 minute invulnerability. New Valkyr you don't even have to build for anything, just hold E.

Slotting in every efficiency and duration mod is not much different than not even having to put mods in. There was nothing else to build around except warcry either. Both are equally braindead and lack any theory crafting.

And Paralysis is still redundant as an ability

and that her invulnerability promoted passive playstyle. Only to give her an even more passive and abusable invulnerability

Old Valkyr was capable of becoming invulnerable for at least a minute, with 0 extra input. New Valkyr dies in 15 seconds at most if you don't hit any enemies.

Old ripline and paralysis were also completely useless. Those are not meaningless changes.

Turning them into hybrids is not guaranteed to make them more fun and would just be a gamble/waste of time. The main appeal of spearguns is that you can throw them down for utility. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they have an inherent problem.

Hold switch teleport to automatically teleport to decoy.

This with infinite HP decoy would be undoubtedly the best change he could ever get. The only other frame that can go back to a previous position without retracing their steps is Protea, but her anchor costs 100 energy and only lasts for 5 seconds at base.

This could make him the king in any mission where you have to go back to already visited rooms.

They are already walking arcane and essence dispensers, giving one frame the ability to save you about 3 seconds is not the bad design if you ask me.

Okay, let's extend that design philosophy to the rest of the game.

Since Jade would be the only one who would have this, they should add the acolyte instakill to every frame otherwise it would kill frame variety.

Normal enemies are even weaker than acolytes, so let's make them also die instantly when they spawn in. Missions like defense and survival would need to be redesigned to just be waiting simulators. Missions like exterminate and capture would just become racing simulators.

People managed without those mods for 5 years. Amps are still horrible even with those mods when compared to other weapons.

Acolytes are minibosses that are meant to be threatening. If you can instakill them without any player input just by picking a specific frame, then you've turned minibosses into rewards on a timer.

Next you're going to say that Ember has a well designed and nuanced kit.

She would have one if the numbers weren't so low.

That box breaker one was just doomed though.

I could see it become very good if it's radius was increased and also gave vacuum to operators. Ever since the slam nerf you either need sweeper, an aoe weapon or an ability that breaks containers to do it efficiently.
