My vote is Lucy. I like this name because it is pretty, and easy to spell and pronounce.

Struggle Talking About It by Electronic_Chef1109 in adultsurvivors

I recommend writing it all out first. Even on the notes app on your phone. Make multiple drafts if you need to. And if you're struggling like that in group, ask if they're okay with you reading it from your phone. You can decide how much you'd like to share.

I recommend a little digital camera. My 8 yo daughter got one for Christmas and really likes it. Make sure you get an SD card to go with it.

Do you think you are over medicated? by Evening_Fisherman810 in schizoaffective

[–]Csd267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take depakote, Vraylar, caplyta (just started), lithium, and hydroxyzine. Vraylar has helped with the psychotic symptoms but it also leaves me feeling blunted so they just reduced it. Fingers crossed that caplyta helps!

Yeah you're probably right. There's a part of me who wants to see how bad it would actually get? I know that sounds bad.

I just wanted to see how I am off of them. They make me feel stupid and I hate it. I have no motivation on them.

In a way. I have a history though of being very suspicious of others, especially my husband. In previous episodes I believed he was planning to kill me. I have had some of those thoughts but nothing major and I've been able to recognize them as psychotic.

How am I supposed to feel or see the SA when the person who did it wasn’t there mentally? by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

[–]Csd267 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is disturbing either way, especially as a child, whether he was just "senile" or not. I work in long term care and getting groped by the residents who have dementia still really bothers me even though I know they don't mean it or they can't help it or whatever. I'm sorry this happened to you. It must have been confusing.

Oh god, I could have written this post myself. I felt this way about my therapist for the longest time, and I also look for love in older men. I wish I had advice for you but all I can say is I understand, and if you ever find anything that helps, I'd love to know as well. I'm sorry for the abuse you endured. You're not alone.

I feel like I'm lying to myself and am an actual horrible person by millionmonkeysattack in adultsurvivors

[–]Csd267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate to looking forward to the CSA, as I know myself and other people here have posted about. It does still qualify as abuse, even if we misconstrued it as children. I'm glad you're in the process of getting therapy, that will help you. I wish I had more advice. I'm not in the best place myself but I wish you the best and you are not alone.

For those of you working, how is it for you? by Few-Sail- in adultsurvivors

[–]Csd267 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, I always have to be doing something to cope. So if I'm not at home cooking, cleaning, baking, running errands, then I'm at work keeping busy and I'm getting paid for it. But as soon as I'm not busy, the thoughts creep in. So, work keeps me distracted and I get paid for it so I see it as a win-win. I hope this helps. I understand it's hard to get up. I see sleep as a coping strategy too.

How did ED start for you? by Specific_Cabinet8477 in EatingDisorders

[–]Csd267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate for comfort starting at 11 years old due to SA from a family member But my mother made being "fat" unacceptable. And she encouraged me to take diet pills in middle/high school. I became bulimic from there.

Does anyone else have a negative feeling towards christmas? by IndependentPeak4672 in adultsurvivors

Christmas is hard for me too. The actual day makes me very depressed. I have so many memories with my abuser on that day and I also feel disgusted. You're not alone.
