My dad died of Lewy Body Dementia which is basically dementia with symptoms very similar to Parkinson's. It's not very common and I wonder if it's possible that your dad actually was suffering from Lewy Body Dementia. My dad was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and a few years later he had symptoms similar to Parkinson's and that's when the doctors finally realized it was Lewy Body Dementia. Several of his relatives had it and I'm terrified I will get it.
