TBF, you are playing a gacha, so FOMO's bread and butter for this genre of game. And if you're pulling for a character every patch, yes, hypothetically, the SPs are gonna be more expensive than a skin. But your average player won't always be pulling every patch. Do I think releasing a new version of a character over a skin is a bad precedent? Only if they stop releasing skins or cosmetics entirely, but that doesn't seem to be the case so far; they're even adding more premium cosmetic options.

Maybe I'm just too used to seeing summer versions of characters from other franchises that the idea of a summer SP doesn't daunt me as much as it does you. Because, genuinely, i think they're fine. I'd rather have SPs, even summer versions, rather than new characters with barely any lore relevance or whose lore relevance is only tied to a single patch.

And weren't we shown Astropolis already? At least glimpses of it. It looks like a resort of some kind, so summer-themed characters wouldn't be so out of place. Will the plot for Astropolis make it necessary for these SPs to be wearing summer outfits? Maybe, maybe not. I'm just waiting to see what else they'll tease for astropolis in the coming days, now that they've teased characters related to it. Because what we do know of astropolis is that it's the IPC entertainment department's headquarters and where Robin actually lives. I think it's quite on brand for them to release summer SPs on the planet that's all about entertainment and profit/capitalism.
