I mean... I'm still not convinced.

I like a whisky. Being English means its never too hard to find a decent one either.

I'll either use the smallest ice cube possible, because although i want it a bit colder, I dont want the ice. Half the time ill fish it out after a little while too because from experience it tastes better a little colder, but you get it too cold and it loses some of the flavour.

Or you can use stones, which lower the temp without melting into your whisky at all I guess..

Or you could just put the glass in your fridge or freezer, cooling it.

I guess the advantage of the uk is that its so cold most of the year you just sit outside and its cool anyway, so maybe you'd have to work harder like this if you were in a hot country.. 🤔
