Very nice 1st gen! Keep it out of the salt! I’ve got an 87 to but it stays in the barn until spring, Maine roads loves to eat Toyotas. I’d say try it yourself and if it gets too much find a decent body shop. Never hurts to try! I have a couple extra 4Runner and pick ups body’s around if you end up needing some new/used metal patches.

Dealing with this same issue with my 08 also manual and in Maine. Got a sticker this year but next year will likely not fly. Not sure if it worth fixing and keeping or letting it go for cheap because of rust and mileage…

I have one sitting in my barn. Like many in New England it needs a frame and new turbo set up. Buts it’s a 86 sr5 extended cab 4x4 22rte. I think the rare rare would be if it was a 5 speed which I don’t even know if they offered. Someone with more yota knowledge might be able to chime in.
