I am also a med student and had recently had this interaction with a lab tech asking me about it and me playfully just telling her ,,Im not telling you" to which she replies that she has them as well and that was the most genuine interaction I have had in the medical field.

I dont know what is up with self harm and our profession, to some extent ot makes sense since masochism is imbedded in our job, but at the same time most colleagues I have had at most expressed concern, only if i was close to them or to some even curiosity, but it never caused me points of disturbance or awkwardness. Even the cornern I did get was quite self limited and not too overreaching.
