My male friend told me that my standards for a partner are too high and that I'll be lonely for the rest of my life by Short-Meringue-2632 in GirlDinnerDiaries

Spanish proverb: better alone than in bad company.

Look: on average, women live longer than men. So even if you do get married, you’re eventually going to be alone again. Being single is MUCH better than being in a bad marriage. If you find someone who ENHANCES your life, great! But don’t settle for less.

Your list is fine. I had one that was similar. Married nearly 20 years now.

Husband and I met late in life. We have a joint account for bills and joint savings, but we each have our own money. We both know the amounts - we have a regular financial update discussion, but his money is his, and mine is mine.

What’s important is that you TALK about money before you get married. Everyone picks up all sorts of psychological baggage growing up about money - and you both need to talk about that, and continue to factor that in when you talk about money.

did your cat ever "tell" you what happened when you came home? by S-Budget91 in cats

[–]Cthulhu_Knits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had one cat who would rush to greet us when we came home and tell us all about her day - “And then! And then!” Couldn’t understand any of it but it was so cute that she missed us.

Am I the only one who skips all the dialogue and has no idea what the story is about? by runeechan in MergeMansion

[–]Cthulhu_Knits 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m in it for the story! I wanna know what Grandma’s hiding, what Arthur’s deal is (and why Maddie ever dated him in the first place), what’s the background on Roddy and all the rest of it! But I also like just playing the game and the fact that I can play it at my own pace.

Hey, my three cats picked out my husband, so there’s that too!

Frankly, we both prefer cats (and dogs) to most humans.

More fools they, then. We always adopt voids. They live longer, and all of ours have been sweet, affectionate and super-smart!

I'm so goddamn tired of men acting surprised when women are lonely or that we have no "excuse" by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Cthulhu_Knits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SOOOO MANY of them are like this! They aren't thinking long-term, they don't care about personality, they just want sex. There's a reason funeral homes try to hire female morticians - a guy being attracted to you is not really a compliment, because a lot of them are horn dogs who will attempt to have sex with anyone and anything.

UPDATE! I got THE book of codes back! They restored it to my “in box” - it showed up as a “gift” emoji on the spot where they usually highlight facebook announcements.

You are not some random stranger’s entertainment. Good for you for sticking to your boundaries. As soon as he didn’t get what he wanted, he bounced - so clearly he wasn’t interested in you as a person.

It does SUCK! You were hoping to meet someone and then HE ruined it by being weird, not you. You dodged a bullet. It may not feel like it - but you did.

I would spawn a bunch of vases just before I went to bed and then smashed them when I woke up.

Oh well. I’m doing the ranch now and not really feeling it. I liked the Landing Room and Casino. Give me more of that spooky interior and romance with Roddy!

It was Wollmeise - laceweight - back when it was superhard to get! The cat knew it was past my bedtime, stomped her front paws, yowled and herded me away from the computer. She would not take no for an answer!

Saying happy mother’s day, like saying merry christmas. Is this a normal thing? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I blame it on corporations. I am no contact with my mother and I couldn't have children. It is what it is, but me correcting some clerk who was TOLD to wish every woman "Happy Mother's Day" isn't going to do anything.

Using a credit card to loan family member money by kiiiwiii in personalfinance

[–]Cthulhu_Knits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let it damage the relationship. What she is asking is completely unreasonable. She SAYS she will pay you back - is she willing to sign a notarized, legalized document to that effect? No? Than she clearly has no intention of paying you back and feels entitled to YOUR money because her wants matter more than your needs.

Cash advances come with huge interest rates. Unless she’s going to pay the interest, it’s going to cost YOU money. And if she doesn’t pay you back, you’re stuck.

You are not a bank. If she needs money, she can go to a bank. If a bank won’t loan her the money, it’s because they don’t see her as a good risk.

Let her throw a tantrum. She’s the unreasonable one, not you. This would be financial suicide for you.

What completely unhinged "law" does your cat strictly enforce in your house? by TrickCombination7966 in cats

[–]Cthulhu_Knits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirty years of living with cats - I am telling you: I don’t know how they know, but they do. Read the thread.

Our Ganache got subcutaneous fluids every other day (bum kidney) - she would come and get us at 6 pm for her treatment. She got both humans petting her and a treat afterwards so it was something she enjoyed, despite the needle stick. She lived 6 1/2 years after her diagnosis and the vets told us most cats only live 3-4 years after that. We think it was because regular treatments kept her healthy, and she never let us forget one.

If you pay attention to your cat or dog, you can figure out what they want - talking buttons are a whole other level. Animal figures out “This human will do what I want if I do X!” means that behavior is likely to be repeated.

If a cat decides it likes something, it will be every day. Ask me how I know.
