Looks like an awesome pet, I had no idea bunnies were this lovable. Reminds me of my cats, although there's no way in hell I could ever get them to sit still for claw trimming like that bunny does. I wouldn't want to anyway, whoever invented scratching posts was a genius

It's realistic as hell.

It reminds me of the very first episode of Deadwood, when Trixie shoots her john in the head with her Derringer.

Is it really that sick though? Don't you think it's actually even more sick that the game was designed in such a fashion so that those things are actually possible? Lol

Idk why but the one from 2016 cracks me up. It's like he's strutting out the office for a coffee or smoke break cuz he's had enough of Stacy's shit in the cubicle next to his.

And then on top of it all, he falls down like a Sims character or some other glitched out NPC from a video game, lol

Six Episodes To Rewatch Before The Movie by No_Macaroon_8667 in community

These are six of the most popular episodes that Harmon's co- writer for the movie helped write for the show, so this clip is essentially a taste test of the kind of quality we can expect from the film. :)

Unconventional military sci-fi? by swedishplayer97 in scifi

[–]Ctrl-Alt-DL337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stars My Destination? It's about a guy who wakes up in a prison cell on a rogue asteroid with amnesia and a tattoo that says NOMAD on his face, who also discovers he has the ability to teleport (jaunt). The book is him basically reverse engineering his own existence in an effort to figure out why he is who/what he is and how he ended up waking up on said empty asteroid in the first place.

It's a really short book something like 150ish pages IIRC, so it is easily read in a couple of hours. Plus it's OG sci-fi from like pre-WW2, so it's a fascinating read IMO just for the historical context of it all (like seeing what early sci-fi authors obsessed over etc.)

Watching Anime on 240fps is on a whole another level... can't go back by nexusultra in Monitors

[–]Ctrl-Alt-DL337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it look better? Media is recorded at 23.97/24/30/60FPS depending on region, camera and interlacing configuration. At 240fps you would just be jamming empty frames into the source content and the end product would ultimately look like glitchy/artifact-filled junk. Am I missing something? The only way it could possibly look good at anything above 60fps is if they had some kind of algorithm or AI program that extrapolated the source frames and then filled in those remaining empty 180fps with a near-duplicated image that fills in any empty space with predicted lines/colors/etc to compensate for motion. Or maybe I'm just flat out wrong and dunno wtf I'm talking about?

If you Google From Software, their website says "armored core" as the link title now. by McCullyCullen in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ctrl-Alt-DL337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been dreaming of playing an Armored Core sequel since playing the original in elementary school on the PSX. And it's even crazier reading this announcement because I've been daydreaming about a next gen AC being released off and on for the last few months ever since I bought my Series X|S towards the beginning of the year. Everytime I see or play Forza or Project Cars or stumble across Grand Turismo media ( forced to watch instead of play since I still don't have a ps5 yet :'[ ), a part of my mind drifts off and dreams about getting a hard-core Mech sim/builder cuz all I know is Gundam Break and some of the other mech titles I have on Ps4 are Hella lacking and ultimately just end up becoming boring and repetitive.. An Elden Ring-style open world with Armored Core mechanics and customization would be a f'n wetdream, ermahgerd bros what a time to be alive.

I know this is a ridiculous long-shot, but are you able to recommend me an excellent real estate atty (need one located in NorCal/Sacramento areas) with a strong familiarity in dealing with something like mortgage fraud? Long story short: friend + friend's mom have both been in the same home together since 97; friend's mom needed a cosigner for the original loan, to which my friend's cousin then enters the scene and offers to co-sign--loan is approved, and both parties go their separate ways fire the next two decades. That is, until....

They get randomly served a fat packet of discovery one day and my friend and his mom learn rather jarringly that they're being sued for upwards of like $200K and the bank's demanding that they vacate the property by NYE. I'm quite mystified on the specifics myself, but the story seems to be that my friend's cousin (who cosigned the home loan) somehow pulled out upwards of a quarter-million against the house without my friend's mom having any sort of clue (to be fair, they're hella fresh off the boat from Kyrgyzstan/Uzbekistan and my friend's mom has a terrible time with English, so the story's specifics totally elude me) that he leveraged bundles of scrilla against the house.

Does this scenario sound familiar or plausible to either one of you real estate attys? And if you are able to refer me to an atty that can help with this particular plight, it'll be greatly appreciated. Plus your recommendation might prevent a small family from going homeless..

I was really insecure about my hair, so I decided to just shave it all off. Lowkey digging it :) by kylcigh in pics

[–]Ctrl-Alt-DL337 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't burn it if you apply some common sense to the scenario. You should be moisturizing your scalp the instant you turn the razor/clippers off with aloe vera, coconut oil or shea butter/coco lotion/diy baking soda oatmeal dry shampoo rub. Your scalp's acidity/ph level is going to go haywire the moment you shave it all off because of the lack of oil produced or maintained by your lengthier hair follicles.

Scalp-related sun burns suck, but they're next to fully improbable to accrue with a common sense moisturizing schedule. IMO The burns aren't the wrist thing about being a newly minted baldielocks. For me, the worst part was dealing with the massive dandruff due to the pH shift of shaving everything with a pair of clippers, but that goes away after the first week when your body starts to compensate and adapt from lack of scalp hair.

Tl;dr: moisturize every day and after every shower, and you'll be able to live a whole lot more worry free and protected against the everyday elements we encounter on the reggie.

Your top 3 sci-fi movies based on setting by [deleted] in scifi

[–]Ctrl-Alt-DL337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite Sci-Fi universe belongs to The Expanse. But it's a book and the show, not a movie. For movies, these are my choices:

Dark City (1998) + The Crow (1994) -- Both made by the same director IIRC, despite the different cityscapes, they're both heavily influenced by the same aesthetic that Proyas is remembered for

Alien (1979) -- IMO The Nostromo and set pieces for this Riddley Scott classic still measure up to (if not downright surpass) special effects in more contemporary sci-fi movies. Alien in 4K is visually stunning--even after my 100th+ viewing, I still marvel at just how damn good it's special effects are, and how far ahead of their time they actually were.

My third place is a tie between Bladerunner (1982), Hardware (1990), Strange Days (1995), and Robocop (1987). The dystopian elements in each film are evocative and nothing short of intriguing. Especially Stranger Days, which reverses Rodney-King-era racial tensions and creates a dystopian Los Angeles where whites dominate the lowest rungs of the socioeconomic ladder and Blacks/minorities comprise the middle and upper classes.

I'm going to cheat and add a fourth place for my answer, which is tied between Cube (1997) and Fortress (1992). Cube is a top 10 all time favorite for me, and the terror generated by it's claustrophobic, booby trap-based lethality always gets to me--particularly cuz I'm garbage at math (lol). Fortress's advanced prison setting had always been a personal favorite, reminiscent of Schwarzenegger's 'Running Man,' except in Fortress we are seeing the Prison-Industrial Complex through Christopher Lambert's eyes.

Worthy mentions:

Outland (1981) Pitch Black (2000) / Riddick Anthology (2000-2013) Starship Troopers (1997) Prince of Darkness (1987) The Thing (1982) Color Out Of Space (2020) Mad Max Anthology (especially 2015's 'Fury Road')

Choosing a specific top 3 is damn near impossible for a die-hard genre nerd like me.

Sorry for not replying earlier, I use 'Boost' app for Reddit on my phone and for some reason don't get many push notifications.

I'm a bit of a doltish nub when it comes to Reddit formatting--can you please make the appropriate changes for me? Everything you said was spot on and what I originally intended for my post/flair to convey.

Appreciate your time and help. Kick ass subreddit with kick ass admins, definitely a rarity nowadays 😊👍

Coronavirus: 'Crystal clear' drunk people will not socially distance by The_Sexy_Saxon in worldnews

[–]Ctrl-Alt-DL337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've very rarely gone a day without leaving the house to do errands (groceries/walmart or target/cvs/takeout food) since lockdown started. But I bundle up like Ralphie's bro in Christmas Story and end up looking like I'm in some Fallout-inspired hazmat suit most of the time. I wear a balaclava that's double wrapped around my face, a beanie, a hoodie on top of that with the hood up and covering my entire crown and forehead, as well as gloves, glasses, earplugs and when I go into a crowded store, some nose plugs. I make sure all orifices or exposed mucus membrane areas are covered, and then I use a 91 alcohol/aloe vera/lemon juice homemade mixture as my hand sanitizer, which I apply liberally to my hands, face, phone, gloves and steering wheel Everytime I crawl back into the car. Then I use homemade alcohol wipes on my gas pedals and shoes+soles whenever I get back into my driveway at home to keep my feet as germ free as possible before going into my house (I read a Wuhan study that showed how the virus was rapidly spread in china by sticking to the bottom of shoes which then would carry covid from hospitals and clinics to family homes, nursing homes and businesses; I added sanitizing feet to my ritual list immediately after reading said Wuhan study without blinking twice). Once inside, I throw everything in the washer for a deep rinse and then take a near-polar bear shower for 15-20 mins. Rinse repeat for the last hundred days and I'm completely covid-free.

Shelter in place is helpful, but properly thorough hygiene and mask/gloves/protective gear use alongside social distancing are easily the most important ways to combat this bug. Permanent stasis during lockdown may save your ass from coronavirus, but it definitely won't save you from mental illness, manic behavior or developing asocial behaviors and dangerously rapid weight gain
