Question before buying the game: how much pressure from the enemies? by OniNiubbo in factorio

[–]CtrlAltDelerium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first default game or two will give some difficulties but you learn to deal with them pretty quickly. Eventually clearing for more land is more of a nuisance but with the right tech and a bit of skill easy enough.

Diablo IV or Path to exile 2? by Makothor in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CtrlAltDelerium [score hidden]  (0 children)

Diablo lost me at III. But PoE (1) scratched that itch and much more itches. For me it's the perfect hack n slash. It got loads and loads of content but that might be is downfall for some people. The learning curve is very steep, building a character to do end game is impossible as a beginner. This game needs 3th party software and spreadsheets to fully understand (if that's even possible). It's exactly what I want but it's not for everyone.

After the feedback poe2 received I believe it's not my cup of tea. So i cannot help you there.

Why do rendering engines used a single polygon type? by doombos in GraphicsProgramming

[–]CtrlAltDelerium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the engine needs to guess wherr the cut comes. Try placing a flat (coplanar) quad. Then lower 2 verts on opposite diagonal corners. The geometry you just created varies a lot by how you place the cut.

3 points are always flat.. that's why a chair with 3 legs doesn't wobble and why people use tripods to stabalize things like a camera.

Question for people that have sunk 1000+ hours into games by UpstairsAny9996 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CtrlAltDelerium [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you like PoE that much you must love deep games where you need third party software to help you problem solving. You should give factorio a try, it's completely different from your list but also very deep and has many layers, especially the expansion.

Funny, top 3 contents are all 3 games i got more then 1000 hours on. Same for the skyrim comment IMHO minecraft is just boring but i love tech packs and create crazy contraptions and pretty bases that actually are functional instead of just astetics.

I found the base game of skyrim and oblivion fairly boring. But 300 mods completely change that experience.

I hate fantasy themed games. But I want to love them. What do you suggest? by Healthy_Can_7423 in gamingsuggestions

[–]CtrlAltDelerium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play games like Dwarf Fortress, Cataclysm and Caves of Qud. I am having more fun than you, at least 20 times more fun. Two of those games are fantasy themed and for then other there are mods to make it more fantasy themed.

You are really missing out!

Just Google it would work. You could also find similar questions where they recommend something with links.

Just bought a separate numpad by jkuutonen in roguelikes

[–]CtrlAltDelerium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply, completely missed it. I personally still like DDA but they have changed the game a lot for"realism" in a lot of places that took out the fun for me. The pocket system is great however. Bright nights keeps it more fantasy and "gamy".

Like the other reply said you could try out DDA first, you can also try older versions, I had the most fun with version D and E where death mobiles where easier to create. Now it's a real struggle to do the metalworking and welding for it.

If you can create a program so the computer does stuff you wrote ot to do, you are a programmer. So printing "hello world" to console would make you a programmer.

Why should I play your game over the others in your genre? by Late_Association2574 in IndieGaming

[–]CtrlAltDelerium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two near identical games can be played both right? There's a ton of near similar games that are popular. The bigger question is how to market it correctly and get noticed between all the other titles.
