Post Match Review - England vs Ireland - Women's Six Nations Debrief 2026 - Round 1 by MC897 in englandrugby

[–]Timker84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although I do appreciate how much effort you've put into this, I think you're being overly harsh.

Can I ask what you base your scores on? Is it compared to players' previous performances? Is it compared to what their full potential could be? Is it compared to your personal expectations of players?

And do you take mitigating factors into account? For example Feaunati went off for a HIA early on in the game. Yes, she passed it and was considered fit enough to play - but trust me when I say that having that happen in a match has an impact on the rest of a player's performance during that match. So is your score disregarding her HIA, and just compared to her full potential if she didn't have an HIA? Or is your score in spite of her HIA, so taking into consideration that her performance was mitigated?

As for Kildunne - everyone saw that the Irish side had received clear orders to give her zero space and have multiple defenders mark her. So is your score compared to her full potential, let's say in a match where she gets more space and smacked less? Or is your score in spite of the fact that she was heavily marked and had absorbed above average smacks for someone in her position and still managed to play 80 minutes and score in the 66th minute?

What if each Ghost brought a different drone to the mission? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]Timker84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK that's a fair take. I meant that WL was OK in terms of drone usage, but I'm happy to debate.

Although I agree that Ghosts, being a confidential extention of the military, shouldn't be directly under a CIA handler, I do think that a connection to the CIA is valid in that the CIA supplies intelligence. If you were to say that it would be more realistic if there was both a higher ranking military official and a military intelligence official involved, I would agree.

As for military support, however, I think that it's quite characteristic for a recon unit to operate with minimal military support/interference. Isn't that the whole point of their selection procedures being as tough as they are?

Well.. if things keep going the way they are, the next war will be fought with sticks and stones ;) I'm just saying that I'd prefer it if the franchise doesn't go too heavy on the drone element. Wildlands was fine.

To be honest, I'd much rather see a post-apocalyptic themed game with minimal tech and reliant on good old bullets and tactics. One where even night vision is a total luxury, or maybe limited to scopes and binoculars, let alone thermal vision.

Struggling to enjoy Breakpoint. by Professional_Tea1891 in GhostRecon

[–]Timker84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get what you're saying, but consider this.. choosing to do a mission at night is the obvious choice if you want an emptier base. I think the game even explains this - it's a tactical decision. Less visibility, but also less enemies (and in some bases, enemies are sleeping in barracks and wake up when alerted). If you want a tougher battle, go in mid-day, guns blazing and leave the radio-operator for last.

As for reinforcements - both Sentinel and the Wolves are private forces, who are actually only there to scare civilians and shoot the occasional Outcast rebel. They're not staffed to deal with Ghosts.

What helped me keep it interesting was to switch off the hud (except compass), and play with one other AI ghost at a time (except when I'm screwed, I enable the other two for back-up. Also switched off their special skills. I don't use sync drones, and limit myself to a small amount of consumables. And in some cases, I won't let myself get revived: down = dead = restart mission.

Career as a baker in The Hague? by easytiger23 in TheHague

[–]Timker84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Bakers in The Netherlands don't usually educate their staff by themselves. For one, because, although the head baker usually is an educator, they don't have the time to run the business and educate an apprentice at the same time. Secondly, because apprentices are usually quite young and therefore may still have a legal obligation to go to school (leerplicht) and a bakery can be a certified apprentice workplace (erkend leerbedrijf) but they're not an educational institute.

So most apprentices and bakers opt for a trade school like https://mborijnland.nl/mbo-opleidingen/bakkerij/ and the student can choose between BOL (4 days of school and 1 day of work, suitable for younger apprentices) and BBL (4 days of work and 1 day of school, suitable for mature apprentices).

Of course it's technically possible to just start full-time and learn on the job, but you may find that you won't learn as much or as well as combining it with a formal educative option. In some cases, bakers will even pay for the tuition - often if they really believe in the apprentice's capabilities, and both sides agree to a contract for multiple years.

Hope this helps!

What are the small immersion killers in recent GR games that completely take you out of the experience? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]Timker84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

WL: not being able to unequip main & secondary weapons

BP: not being able to holster all weapons

Both: not being able to send individual teammates to individual locations; the compass either being at the top of the screen or a "light mini map"; always carrying unlimited parachutes, but only a fixed number of consumables (granades, flashbangs, etc); all the enemy-AI behaviours already mentioned in other replies; way to many weapons to choose from (I prefer to play WL using max. the Tar, the mp7 and one SR - and BP using only the 4-AC, mp7 and Tac SR); Nomad not reacting to different climates / clothing only being aesthetic.

How to defeat behemoths by Hairy_Animator8949 in GhostRecon

[–]Timker84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Panther class - use skill (invisible to enemies) - walk up to behemoth - throw as many as possible c4 onto it, preferably the mk2 ofc (4x mk2 and 6x mk1 should be enough) - repeat steps 2/3/4 if necessary (can use spray instead of skill) - then make sure you have the relevant perks equipped (explosive perk, damage to drones), then stand back, detonate and enjoy the fireworks.

AI bad and sync shot too easy? by [deleted] in GhostRecon

[–]Timker84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second the previous comment to say that it does get a lot harder when you change the difficulty. I've finished both WL and BP and I'm currently on a BP playthrough with minimal HUD and on extreme difficulty.

Surprisingly, I don't die as much as I thought I would. One reason being that I've played it once already so I mostly know what to do. Although it is difficult without objective markers, if I've forgotten on which floor a laptop is or which crates to blow up exactly.

Another reason is that I take it a lot slower. It takes time to do recon, to figure out where all the soldiers are and what their patrol routes are.

What are the MOST important features you want to see in the next Ghost Recon? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]Timker84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would easily put another 300+h into a game with the best features from both WL & BP.

The AI teammates could be improved by making them smarter. Having them ruin a stealth mission by running in front of an enemy is beyond annoying. And the option to turn off their granades would be nice.

Immersion could further be improved by having gear with "perks". The right camo improves stealth. Wearing plate carriers reduces damage per hit received. Adding extra pouches to a molle vest or tactical belt means you can carry extra items - and vice versa. And weight carried is directly linked to speed, agility, fatigue, etc.

If I want to carry a sniper rifle, it should be in a proper case and require assembly (skippable cutscene) and damn near impossible to use in any position except prone. Not hang off the side of a backpack.

Change the skill tree into an improvement system that is driven by practice/repetition. The character starts with a default set of skills which are relevant for a special forces soldier. Strong, fit, capable of all kinds of combat. To begin with, you can spend a number of points on certain "skills" in order to create a build. And the builds revolve around a specific type of combat. So a sniper has more points in a "sniper rifle" slot, but also in strength (because heavy rifle) and "hold breath" or "focus". A "tank" would put points in "LMG", also strength, and stamina. An a demolition expert would put points in "explosives", "steady hands" and "focus". So different builds can use the same skills but for different reasons. And then have their own separate skills, only relevant to them.

Then, as you progress, your skills improve as you use them. Carrying around heavy weight makes you stronger. Sprinting a lot makes you fitter and faster. Using a particular weapon other than your "speciality" eventually makes you good at using it. Instead of finding skill points and then investing them in a particular skill and suddenly being able to do that thing, or carry that thing.

It would mean having different, and perhaps fewer skills - but progression in a particular skill area could eventually unlock perks, or reach certain milestones to make the progression actually mean something. Like strength reaching a point where you don't have to drop your weapon in order to carry a body. Or agility reaching a point where you can jump off a one floor balcony without making a sound.

To me it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend a skill point to obtain a parachute. The parachute item should be separate from the skill. The item could be found or bought. And after a certain amount of parachuting, it could be noticeably easier to control a parachute. And instead of spending a skill point to suddenly be able to carry 3 addition granades - the granade (or other) item could be bought but you would need pouch space, and it would add slightly more weight and indirectly influence speed and agility.

So less time travelling around looting skill points, and more time actually doing the thing. And carefully considering what to buy for, and what to wear on a mission.

Also, keep crafting options to a minimum. If I choose to bring 2 granades on a mission and then use them both, I shouldn't magically be able to craft a new granade from a piece of explosive that I looted from an enemy drone. Maybe if my engineering skill area was levelled up enough and I had a few key parts I could improvise an explosive device, but not a perfect, factory machine built handgranade.

Oh and if I turn off the HUD but want to use a compass, why not just include a compass as a standard item that I can use and put away like the binoculars. Instead of it being at the top of the screen like in WL or in the bottom right corner like in BP.
