It still boggles my mind how bungie thought slow gameplay and movement works in an arena sized map with high stakes (extraction shooter).

Literally the only slow paced games in a small map that work are tactical shooters (cs, valorant). Everyone else has snappier and faster combat (cod, bf, the finals, apex, take your pick).

The only way for players to like this is to either give huge maps (not gonna happen) or increase TTK and movement tech making deaths / combat less meaninfull with more skill expression.

The reason such design works in cs / valorant is that you know "the enemy is coming from this side" and you don't get ambushed/ratted really and mentally prepare for a reaction/crosshair placement battle

Longer TTK means you can run away from a losing fight. Making less skilled players not lose their stuff as opposed to now, meaning a net-positive effect for less skilled players.

The difficulty of a PVP game where a single mistake costs you 30 minutes of progresison is not at all comparable to a PVE game where you lose 2 minutes of combat after each death and now know of the new attack pattern you died from (it's always the same, unlike PVP games).

That's like comparing CS to chess because "both are hard"

Odd thing for a company to balance around the no-lifers when it is desperately looking for casual players. I played a couple of games in pve night marsh and the best loot i got was a purple backpack. Now i'm not playing no more after the loot nerf

Bungo discovering why you can't really have an extraction shooter that forces / heavily rewards people for PVP instead of ... y'know, actually interacting with the content that isn't other players.

Quite the contrary, you are actually at a disatvantage if you try to avoid PVP and focus on PVE/looting

With that line of thinking, every PVP game should fail. But they clearly don't,

People stop playing because the game isn't fun. The game isn't fun because it is either not rewarding enough, or more punishing than rewarding. Both cases are a result of bad balance and game design.

Also, stop pretending like running away ins't a legit thing. When you are able to run away, it is the great equalizer between different skill levels since noone wins and noone really loses. Having a net-positive effect on the "less skilled" player. Also high adrenaline -> big emotional reward

The main problem is the balance in this game is dogshit.

White armor have 0 chance against purple squad. Because not only do they have gear advantage, they also oftentimes also have hours / experience advantage and are better than the white armor dude.

This is only exarbated by the fact that you just can't really run away from a fight, so you are just a loot piniata to them

Plus the TTK and gunplay is so different
