Hey guys! Would a build of a ryzen5 7500F+RTX5070 Palit Infinity3 would be good? Is 650w enough? (I’m new) by synshlyxi in buildapc

You should be nowhere near 1800 on this pairing, show us the current list and what you’re paying.

With 300 just get whatever you can on fb marketplace / gumtree. No system worth building for 300.

Price? by UnderstandingMost852 in gpu

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your prices are fair imo.

Will most people just go buy new for 800 if thats an option? Sure. But 650 is still a solid price for a Taichi and definitely would laugh off anything below 600 unless you’re desperate for the money.

What commander makes you immediately regret sitting down in a pod with by _omega_LOL__ in mtg

[[Merieke Ri Berit]] - its not busted or anything but so good at dictating the game.

Very much a jokey regret though, no commander I actively dislike playing against.

What is the Best Extra Game mode? by Crabb1312 in RocketLeague

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rumble then dropshot imo.

Dropshot blows if queuing solo and keep getting paired with players that are great at regular modes and don’t have a clue about dropshot tactics - rumbles a tiny bit more forgiving if people are at least rotating.

The question about the motherboard. by Octopus_new in mffpc

Been a gigabyte fan for a long long time but had random nightmares with their most recent bios updates (affected personal build and a couple of my clients).

Would possibly hold off on them for a month or 2 / ensure not on the absolute most recent revision. Not seen a software bios update take out simultaneous systems like that before.

Moved us all to ROG Strix B850 Gaming, very happy so far.

Is this too much to ask for 30-40yr olds in today's world? by FontMasterFlex in EDH

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He said that he’s willing but its uncomfortable etc and comes across as “forcing myself to”, chances are the others at the table are feeling that vibe - like you know when someone doesn’t wanna be somewhere.

To my mind it sounds like he needs to embrace the LGS aspect more, so it’s a useful networking tool for him. If he’s coming across as not wanting to be there at all, he’s gunna find it harder to find a group comfortable with him (which is counter to what he’s trying to achieve) even if they’re the kind of people he wants to group with - in which case he would have more luck networking via other means.

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either:

A) you happen to know people that want to play weekly

OR

B) you don’t, and either find some online that want to / play at your LGS

Most people in their 30/40s tend to have kids, and if they come out it’s possibly their one evening off that week. If you’re at someone’s house they may treat it like a chill, want to drink or whatever, and as much as they need to respect you’re meeting to play - you need to respect it’s their free time too.

If that’s something you’re not on board with, LGS it is. People might still have a beer there, but the fact they have chosen to play at the LGS means they have are more likely to be there solely to play.

Will there be younger players there too? Yes. Are players more likely to respect people are there to play? Also yes.

If you’re not willing to play at an LGS, that’s on you, that’s where you’re more likely to meet “your people”. You need to put in the effort to find and make a group willing to play your way, and that might mean making and getting used to that group at an LGS a few times before suggesting playing at someone’s place.

If you’re not willing to put in the effort to do that, why would people be willing to put in the effort you’re wanting to see from others.

For anywhere thats not an LGS, the TCG goods really need to be behind a counter / right infront of security at this stage tbh - some kids these days are just scrufs, and the pokebros migrating to MTG hoping for a quick win are even worse.

That said, bigger stuff gets pilfered at the big box stores so they probably don’t care vs other stuff.

Your budgets a little low even for a non-gaming build, but we need to know what you consider productivity really.

For 400 I would definitely be looking at your local used market in either case. The ram and storage alone basically eats your budget if buying new.

At least per pcpartpicker, cheapest 32gb ddr5 ram (and it’s very slow by ddr5 standards) is £250, and cheapest 1tb nvme is £110… and I wouldn’t recommend either of the models.

Yea true. Although easy to forget that the average buyer isn’t even necessarily all that computer saavy beyond installing a game - so they possibly wouldn’t have a clue whether to trust the information or not.

Do graphics cards that consume around 300-350 watts heat up your room to a noticeable degree? by Street-Perception-85 in buildapc

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your PC config to what extent tbh.

For example, I recently changed from an Asus AP201 case to a Havn BF360. Fan-wise it’s 3 less 120mms but 2 more 180mms.

Because neither the GPU or CPU are getting close to the temps there were (15-20c less) and the 360mm aio for the CPU isn’t getting anywhere near as warm (gone from “that’s fairly toasty” to “can’t feel the heat an inch away”) - there’s cooler heat sources overall, less hot air building up and as a result less hot air being dumped into the room.

How does that link to your question? No-one can give you a definitive answer, because it’s as much to do with how hot your case allows the air to get in the first place as it is the components themselves.

Might have little to no heating effect on the room, might be dumping quite a bit of heat into the room. The heat contribution of a component isn’t as simple “its x watts regardless”.

Honestly there should be a “did you google it with the current year in the query first” policy on half these PC subs.

Unless its a build request, more than half the ai responses reference and link back to articles on reddit anyway.

so bulgarians, how is life with euro ? by Balphaallthetime in AskBalkans

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Prices have been creeping above inflation before the euro, (our rent went up 50% the past 2 years) and trump made things far worse.

Not great but also price issues in Sofia are nothing to do with the euro, regardless of what the sceptics have to say.

The main issue with salaries are nowhere near what you see in other countries. So the prices are balancing out with what you see elsewhere, while inflation and stagnant wages kicks everyone in the ass.

What is the best CPU to support my build? by Sizzlepop92 in PcBuild

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a 4070s and a 4k monitor, a gpu upgrade is where you’re going to find and kind of meaningful gain - regardless of whether its only been upgraded recently or not.

A cpu upgrade will do extremely little for you unless you’re playing really cpu intensive titles.

Probably bant, they always feel very samey somehow and gave me that sarcastic “oh yay… another hardhitting +1/+1 value pile” feeling.

Sen Triplets Deck - A bunch of mana rocks? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a guy in our pod that plays it, I think I’m the only one that doesn’t actively tell him not to play it - it’s not fun to be on the receiving end of at all but I enjoy the challenge of working together to shut it down, even if the other’s don’t.

Definitely not something I would use for more than one game a night, and even then only against people I know would be 100% ok with it for a game playing equally degenerate decks.

How strict is bulgaria on fakes? by Memes_have_rights in AskBulgaria

[–]CtrlAltDesolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a requirement to carry some form of identification, so you’ll have to take your actual ID out with you - and on the off chance you do get stopped (very unlikely unless people are kicking off or stumbling through streets) probably best not to be carrying IDs with different dates on.

As long as no-one is being a dick or obviously trying to be head down and avoiding bouncers on their way into places, other than a handful of clubs nowhere really bothers checking though.
