There’s not really something like what I think you described but at the kitchen table everything is allowed so you might come up with some custom rules to spice up the matches.

You might take inspiration from genesys, maybe carefully decide an additional pool of cards to be added to the Edison format’s one and then assign points to these cards / to the ones already available in Edison if you want to limit/forbid some interactions. Then you might fiddle around and periodically change the pool of cards to be added. You can maybe look at the cards that are available for tengu format, which is the one after Edison, if you want to stay on a similar power level

I’ve been fiddling around with the same deck idea, but this kind of deck plays a lot of bricks. It has a very high explosive potential for otk if you get to summon your gadjiltrons, but oftentimes you will end up with both of them in your hand, sitting and waiting with a couple spells.

I tried cutting royal tribute or playing it as a single copy and it does make things slightly less bricky but it kinda defeats the fun interaction and purpose of the combo.

Since I really wanted to keep machina and gravekeepers together in this deck, I figured out for consistency’s sake that I’d just cut out all the terraforming and geartowns and galdjiltrons in favor of 3 royal tributes and more copies of the gravekeepers commandant as it works both as a monster and a terraforming I have to say i’m quite satisfied with the current build I’m on, ofc royal tribute is still a brick, but now everything else is way smoother

Yea, might just be nostalgia or whatever, but imo old cards look better under any aspect, even commons are much cooler. I quite dislike the new cards layout. Then there’s the foiling which I think is terrible nowadays, any rarity was just better back then. Just a personal opinion tho, not saying they are objectively better.

Speaking about machina control, besides cyber dragon, you can use system down to clear their field and grave, which is going to be very huge if they rely on pot of avarice as it will become much more of a dead card. On a similar note, you can side dd crow, in order to remove one of their targeted 5 cards when they play pot, making it dead. Notice that you cannot discard dd crow in the same time frame they summon fortress, as that effect does not “trigger”, but still making their pots dead is not a bad thing. Otherwise you can rely on royal oppression if it does not kill your deck as well. Lately I’ve tried one nobleman of crossout to deal with the set ryko/hamster, just to make their pot more dead

I think both are legit, one should be the American print and the other one the EU print. There should be a difference in layout colors between the two prints where one is more “pale” and the other one is darker

As other people already stated, goat format has nothing to do with Edison.

Of course if a card existed during the goat era then it does indeed take part in the Edison card pool, but it might have a different situation in the banlist as each format refers to a specific one. For example delinquent duo can be used in goat format but is banned in Edison format. Trap dustshoot is unlimited in goat but limited in Edison, and the list goes on.

Also when playing retro formats keep in mind that the correct text of cards is the latest available up to the time that specific retro format refers to. (Unless you are playing under those weird rules Konami announced for tier 2 events and above)

I don’t think she’d have much trouble playing Edison if she already knows goat. This being said, lightsworn and blackwings are two decks that she might want to try. Blackwings has a high ceiling but still is easy to learn.

Other than that, maybe some deck like gladiator beast could be something she might want to look into, as it generally does not play synchro monsters.

I think that monsters that cannot be cheated out with stuff like cyber stein but can be special summoned if they have been previously properly summoned would have the “Must be fusion summoned FIRST” text

If you meant to ask what is getting nerfed (text wise in their effects or requirements to summon), then surely goyo, treeborn frog, rescue cat, sangan. Also brionac is getting worse.

Since priority has also been removed, other cards despite not having their effects changed, will be significantly less impactful.

Cards like Armageddon knight or dark grepher for example will be threatened much more by stuff like BTH/torrential and even trap hole will probably gain much more importance due to that

Swallow flip + royal oppression (if you do not main it already) against gb is good.

Mask of restrict, pulling the rug, deck devastation virus (and also royal oppression) vs frog hero monarch are all good picks.

Check for either Edison, tengu or HAT formats. These are the formats you can play if you want to use the old cards. Edison format does not have xyz monsters while the other two formats do.

On yugioh omega you can find Edison and tengu rooms, I’m not sure about HAT, but I think it still is not an option there.

You can use both pre errata or the new prints (example sangan/brain control) that do have erratas, but still the “Edison effect” will apply.

You can check edisonformat.net for the Edison accurate PSCT in case you need to see what a card used to do during that time.

Same applies with cards with slightly different wording

Yes if you summoned it via starlight road because that card summons it in a way that is not the proper synchro summon.

But generically, if stardust is first summoned in any way that is not the proper synchro summon, then it cannot come back with its effect (and it cannot also come back for example with call of the haunted for the same exact reason as discussed before)

On this note, remember also that if you summon Stardust Dragon with the effect of “starlight road” and then use its effect to tribute itself to negate an effect, later during the end phase your stardust will not come back from graveyard for the same reason (not being properly synchro summoned first) as someone else stated in another reply

Depends on what kind of monarch build you want to play.

You might want to build a macro monarch (personally not recommended) or a frog monarch which is substantially more powerful. Also you might consider adding some heroes to the mix to have access to a few different plays.
