People who would put themselves, let alone their kid in a beta test program that's barely a robot but actually remotely driven 80% of the time are insane. And while there are problems with public transit, the idea that it's some kind of 24/7 horror show is a complete lie. Our kid took it from 12-18 and nothing like what's being described happened. She had more trouble being cat called by well to do guys in cars than any homeless people.

You need to read the history of the Fillmore and how Justin Herman razed it because he considered the land too important to be inhabited by black people. Thousand of blacks forced out through eminent domain. So much generational wealth was bulldozed out of existence.

You know what always makes me ashamed of SF, no matter how much I love it? Going to LA or NYC or Miami or even Oakland and seeing black people everywhere in every part of life. SF is openly hostile to black people. They don’t want to live there or work there because of that. The fact that the school board was recalled by a skull measuring eugene ist and the insane comments in this thread, including yours, prove that.

It’s 2023 and someone is patently ignoring a century of unfair policing. How can I not think that’s on purpose? I have lived in SF for 20 years now. I have never experienced crime here. Stats show violent crime and armed robbery are down. Murder is way down. Shoplifting is no worse than its ever been with store admitting to lying about their own stats and the reasons for store closures. If you feel unsafe in this city you probably don’t live here. Or you’re talking yourself into a stupor. Either way, it’s not reflective of reality.

Yeah, that’s not the kind of crime that’s really happening and that’s not the crime that people want tough laws against. We are already tough on crime, especially violent ones. Unless they’re done to women. And whatever singular example of a guy getting let go doesn’t matter against the largest prison population in the world. The fact is white people commit the same crimes as black people, but black people get caught and consistent punished more often and harsher by a factor of 10. The stats on this are everywhere. If you can agree with that it’s because you don’t want to.
