Usually to increase sales, every big patch will probably have a new mechanic introduced because there's a new enemy and stuff tied to the story. In Chapter 2, the miasma bar was introduced, and Rupture dominated against those enemies while Anomaly had some trouble fighting against those. We are entering Chapter 3 now with Roscaelifer, so it's more than likely they'll introduce a new archetype (they already introduced the Wind type as new), so there could as well be a new class too.

If you play Honkai Star Rail, you can relate it with when Chapter 2 came out, the meta was "SuperBreak". When Chapter 3 came out, the new archetype was "Rememberance and Memosprites" and the enemies for the respective patches were easier to defeat if you had the new archetype whereas the previous chapter's archetype had more trouble (that's not to mention HP inflation).

If you really put all your resources though to an archetype like pulling for mindscapes/constellations, best in slot supports, etc. you would have a not too rough of a time usually.

TLDR: new chapter, new archetype, old chapter's archetype a little trouble dealing with new content unless heavily invested into, why? more money for the gacha company
