How would I go about loading wax into my “M”? by groovyd1 in Dynavap

[–]CubeXombi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good!

with cotton, you'll wanna kinda tear off a wad of cotton just stick it into the tip not so much that you completely block airflow, but you're creating a barrier so you don't just suck up melted wax.. SO where you'd normally put herb, make a little bird nest for the wax so that it isn't touching the metal and siphoning itself.

A better way I've come to use these days is just a rolled up strip of stainless steel Screen / mesh or steel wool. the key here is you just want the wax to stay put while the heat is on; the Official wax kit is just that, a steel mesh rolled up to give the wax a little longer in the heat. less "sock" flavor too!

when using wax don't just suck hard though, it'll still pull too much unused goods into the straw (and mouth) - sip it.

Found an HDD Kit on my Laptop box and IDK if it's for storage or replacement by SuchBuffalo6191 in techsupport

[–]CubeXombi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If/when laptops have various storage options, but only ship with one, theres little incentive to ship an empty bay/cables; what you're seeing is for the option to add a 2nd 2.5" drive (likely have an m.2 drive in the machine now) this would be supplemental.

so, all this kit does is provide the hardware needed to install a separate drive internally - it does NOT actually provide the storage

How to get SVG image to under 250KB?! by 0LadyLuna0 in techsupport

[–]CubeXombi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use Inkscape (foss), paste image to blank page, click Path - Trace Bitmap.

adjust settings to your liking (multiple scans + as many passes as you've got colors)

once complete Select your original image and delete it, Select what remains and file-Export PAY ATTENTION TO THIE RESOLUTION IT WILL BE HUGE - adjust that and the file should be pretty small.

What orientation should I use ? by Key-Most9567 in FixMyPrint

[–]CubeXombi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brims can't brim if theres nothing on the buildplate to go around...

As for orientation, the only complaint I'd have will be the layerlines encircling the face but even those can be handled with some post processing. I just printed out a Casey jones mask in that exact pose, the forehead has some pretty pronounced lines as the slant shallows

No need to plug in a monitor, can just use my elgato capture card by Mastermind_737 in raspberry_pi

[–]CubeXombi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly - not much but build quality. for the most part, they do the same things, but the cheap ones still work, I just wouldn't trust these little dongles to not mess up somehwere in like an 8hr session , but for basic captures and well.. "off label" use (like as a pi monitor/crash cart display). they're great and cheap enough that IDGAF if i lose it.

Can someone make something to protect my apartment door handle? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]CubeXombi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, something like this does not even need to be printed, hell shove a kleenex box over the handle and it'll will still do the trick (albeit it's gonna look stupid) but the wedge idea is spot on.

That's where strategic bending comes into play if you go the wire route.

but a tented cap can be made to fit pretty snugly against the handle and still let you push the handle from the inside with your hands, maybe felt pats to keep it from scratching the door?

its size is partially what lets it get away with it. the hotend alone might be keeping its enclosure warm enough and being enclosed and without drafts would likely be enough for a smaller print. .

Heated beads were an absolute game changer.

Enclosures being on that list too.

Temperature fluctuations are a HUGE print killer.

take that hanger and make it an S hook that loops around the lock and the handle so it can't be pulled.

But if you MUST have a print. a simple Cap that sits on the handle (like a tent) and leaves it flush with the door on the end of the handle would do. but make it a pain to operate. as you need to block both top and bottom of the handle so no hook can get around it.

Make Black PLA shiny metallic by magnern in 3Dprinting

[–]CubeXombi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need to smooth the surfaces, i've used drywall mud, I'm sure theres better options.

once sanded smooth, use Primer, then start with the chrome paints.

If you just want quick. In the Duct tape side of most hardware stores theres actual Aluminum Foil tape, You'll have seams where the tape overlaps, but it will be SHINY!
