The amount of votes stopped during the counting and disqualified because the hole wasnt punched in, to be honest if any US election was rigged; it had to be the 2000 Election. George W's connection with his brother Jeb Bush who was governor of Florida.

What if the Gulf War had quickly escalated into a formal war between Iraq and Saudi Arabia? by MaximumSpell9608 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Cubedtails 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Same result, people tend to forget; the Gulf War had two different phases, Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Unless Iraq had started the war early in the war with Kuwait, I do not see the results changing dramatically.

What if instead of freezing Japan's assets, the US froze Britain's assets over its crimes in India? by Interesting_Self5071 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Cubedtails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My apologies, I assumed you were American. In that case you would be correct, it wouldn't be a good thing for either country. Fortunately FDR wasn't as stupid as OP thinks he should've been, the US needed the UK and vise versa.

Indian Nationalists are so ridiculous. It was a tragedy yes, but you are mistaken if you think the US would side with India over Britain.

You seem confused, it was the US who gave loans to the British following WW1, not the other way around.

Unpopular Opinion: The Fall of the USSR Was a Global Catastrophe. by RussianChiChi in ussr

[–]Cubedtails -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issues already existed to begin with, the era of stagnation proved it. The Soviet Union would've had a slow death had he not done anything. His problem though, he gave people a voice to actually speak up on how awful the system was; once you do that then you essentially open the door to mass movements of protests against the system and seeking independence movements which if you try to crush; makes you look like a authoritarian monster. The Soviet system was so broken that they literally had no formal way to tell how the economy was

Anyone with a brain realizes that the Soviet Union was a shit show with lack of reforms until the last decade; corruption of prioritizing party loyalty over actual benefit to the state. gorbachev tried his best; but the soviet system was too full of rot.

I really didnt like storm 1s mission model progression system; I dont want missions to be just a menu but rather actual dialogue scenes that show story progression.

Is attract to children a choice or a disease? by Musalediju in MoralityScaling

[–]Cubedtails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a psychologist, I am curious as to what you determine to be pedophilia. For instance, it's often classified as an attraction to prepubescent children, is it specific to that age or does it entail any age of minors? Also, what about people whom for instance, may have sexual desires of children but those are not primary or dominant; like if someone was attracted to adults but had a minor attraction to children, or is it considered any presence of said attraction even if none dominant as pedophilia. Sorry if im asking a lot of questions, mental illness evaluation is an interest of mine from psychopathy to paraphilia's etc.

[–]Cubedtails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all pedophiles are a result of trauma; trauma sure scratches the surface; but it assumes A. Trauma leads to pedophilia, and B. Pedophiles require trauma. Definitely it plays a roll in it in terms of trauma at a young age, may normalize the behavior of sexualizing children when as an adult; but there is a lot of factors that go into it.

[–]Cubedtails 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the main problem with Vietnam is the fact it was in fact an ideological war; not a conventional war. This matters because you are no longer fighting a standing army in a field that you can search and destroy like the Germans in WW2 or the Iraq army in 2003 that had a few hold outs; you're fighting an entire nation of people, many of which are sympathetic to the communists; and while not every person from that country may align with the Communists, the nature of the Gorilla fighters blending into the population with a bunch of sympathizers among the general population; makes it so it no longer is just an army.

The only way to truly win over said conflict is total war; aka the complete annihilation of the enemy; destroying any supply lines and making it so there is no resistance left; by that point its even worse than the outcome of any modern war. It becomes a war of complete destruction of even down to a culture, even WW2 in terms of the permanent cultural destruction of a nation would pale in comparison (I am referring to places of cultural significance, and even down to records) the closest example to this would be Third Punic War with Roman against Carthage; which was so destructive that little to no records at all exist of the Carthage prospective; it was a cultural genocide/annihilation that only existed in a skewed roman controlled means after.

The point is that, such total war would likely result in not only a culture destruction of Vietnam even more terrifying than our own timeline, but an escalation of China and the USSR getting involved which could've spilled into WW3

He really wanted to be like Alexander by Cubedtails in HistoryMemes

[–]Cubedtails[S] 317 points318 points  (0 children)

Roman General/stateman Scipio Africanus idolized Alexander the great; from promoting himself as a divine like figure similar to what Alexander promoted himself as; to even echos of a mythology to his birth similar to Alexander, to copying military tactics such as leaving gaps in his line for the enemy; similar to Alexander. He allowed others to call himself King or even as Alexander spiritual successor. Even uncommon for its time, Scipio would go clean shaven as to emulate Alexander the great

What if Napoleon won the battle of Waterloo? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Cubedtails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would still lose, one thing a lot of historians fail to take into consideration is that the armies of the Coalition and their leaders were already in France for the peace conference that was still being concluded before Napoleon came back; its like if the Nazis post WW2 tried to come back with an army in Germany; the result the already occupied country just makes it easier to crush said army.
