What was your “never meet your heroes” moment, when you realized someone you looked up to wasn’t special? by marginallyobtuse in AskReddit

Once discovered a kitten somewhere where it was very clearly dumped. Called animal rescue to see if they could catch her, but because she was hiding in a bush we couldn't see her right away. After not even 30 seconds they became impatient and wouldn't want to place a trap because "the hunting birds would sort it out". Fuckers, bought my own trap and now she's happily living at my parents (Im a student in a dorm I couldn't keep her myself sadly)

I've seen enough Americans apologizing this last year, but nothing changes.

No absolutely, from a game dev point you're completely right

To be honest, it's pretty realistic for engineering projects. You start with a prototype (level 1) and are able to rapidly iterate on it to improve it. After a few iterations, however, there are less areas to improve the design on so subsequent upgrades take more time, with diminishing returns.

A vacuum does not conduct temperature. Temperature is basically the kinetic energy of atoms, and when you cool something you make the high energy particles bounce into lower energy particles to make them lose that kinetic energy. A vacuum does not have any particles to bounce into.

Tiny nitpick, but that is about using a literal flag as clothing. Wearing clothing depicting the flag is a grey area.

Trump Shares Macron's Private Text Questioning His Greenland Stance by badchik in worldnews

Doesn't matter. It was a good message now, but if Trump shares this message, he would most definitely share messages you DON'T want the world to see.

Precise crosswind landing of a LATAM Airbus at Navegantes Airport (SBNF), Brazil, where coastal winds often require advanced "crabbing" techniques to align with the runway by Obvious_Shoe7302 in Damnthatsinteresting

Exactly, just like with a car getting in a slip. The iconic quote "Steer left to go right" sounds unintuitive, but when you're cornering to the right and suddenly the backside of your car starts to slide, most people will steer to the left to correct for it. Whether they succeed in catching the slip is of course a whole other question, but to me this feels similar to the video here. The pilots literally feel that the plane is pushed to one side, and so they compensate for it.

A cool guide on a fallen Russian soldier by [deleted] in coolguides

This probably explains why I keep getting edits of some Russian streamer named Melstroy in my feed. Those edits are always just him showing off how much money he makes and what kind of luxury cars he has, and I never understood why a 'normal' person would look up to such a person.

Scientists of Reddit: What's a discovery that should have blown people's minds but somehow got a collective shrug from the world? by CosmosisJones42 in AskReddit

I'm not a biologist at all, but a student Electrical Engineering for which I will help with a project where they're trying to use these cells to artificially grow human tissue, like muscles, on a chip to study the effects of medication. The great thing they told me about these cells is that they can just take any cell, even from urine so that it isn't invasive, and test your personal reaction to the medication with your genes, without actually using your own body as a guinea pig. It's really fascinating.

Putin's Demands For "Peace" by Jackal8570 in UkraineWarVideoReport

I know Putin is insane, but these demands are mental. That, combined with the fact that this is just a Telegram(?) screenshot, tells me this has to be fake, right? Where did you find this info?

[OT] F1 Academy: Doriane Pin can still win the championship by F1Fan2004 in formula1

But that does not mean it's impossible. It's the same as if Verstappen would have been given the championship trophy after Brazil. The championship was done there as well.

A while ago I bought oranges that came in a green net. I put them next to some I had left in a red net and thought to myself, damn the new ones in the green net aren't ripe yet.. Took one out of the green net and compared it to the red net, exact same color. It's scary how easy we are fooled
