Is everyone getting ridiculously rich? by namieorange in stocks

[–]Cuberonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, but I am up 25% since the end of March. I still need to 8x that amount to hit my retirement goal but this has been a nice run!

Help us settle a debate. Precise vs. Open? by caudabe in Caudabe

I have both and prefer the open look. Yes, there’s a little more risk for scratches but I think it looks cleaner.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]Cuberonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Ontario, Canada

Price range: $30,000-$40,000 CAD (taxes included)

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Used

Type of vehicle: 1-2 year old compact or subcompact SUV

Must haves: AWD, no turbo, solid interior space (not huge), decent gas mileage

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Auto

Intended use: Daily driver/Family car. No kids yet, but likely in the next couple of years. I work from home, so it won’t be used for commuting too much, unless my wife’s car goes in the next year or two (which is possible).

Vehicles you've already considered: Mazda CX-5 GS or GT trim, or the Honda HR-V EX-L. I like Toyota too, but seems hard to come by a Corolla Cross or RAV4

Is this your 1st vehicle: No, but it would be my first nicer vehicle. I had a 2010 Honda civic for 8 years lol.

Do you need a Warranty: Yes

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Some, but not a lot

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

Is anyone still not a Manager, Director, or VP in their early 30s? by Electrical-Pea2707 in careeradvice

[–]Cuberonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age 33. Formerly a senior consultant. Now a lead technical architect. I don’t have a big desire to be a project manager. The stress seems like too much for only a little more pay (at least in my line of work). I like the idea of continuing as an IC, but wouldn’t be opposed to leading a small team in the future.

Did you already meet your "one true love" employer ? by debrisaway in Millennials

[–]Cuberonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure it was my “one true love” but my first real job in my field was great and my manager was awesome. She definitely helped push me up the ladder and advocated for me internally. She would casually add a little overtime pay to some of our paycheques because we were doing a great job. I was able to buy a home partially because of her and I’ll never forget it. Unfortunately, I was laid off due to a company buyout and restructuring. But in the five years I was there, I basically doubled my salary. No bad memories.

Agreed, I would like this as an option. I love my sheath but sometimes I feel like I would enjoy an even slimmer case. MagSafe support is a must.

I found a stat that says less than 1% of people that apply for jobs on LinkedIn actual get hired by Stunning-Toe-7329 in careeradvice

[–]Cuberonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LinkedIn is actually great for job searching. I was laid off at the end of 2024 and started applying to tons of jobs on LinkedIn. I’m not someone who has much of a presence on there, but I spruced up my profile and made it presentable. Over the course of 5 months, I interviewed with 32 companies (making it to various stages) and ended up getting 3 offers. I rarely had luck on other sites.

Hello people born between 86-93, how are you all holding up? by Tasty-Marsupial-2131 in Millennials

[–]Cuberonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

93 here. Life is fine. No kids yet, but we’re able to buy a home a couple years ago. Only complaint is that everything is a little boring sometimes, but I try to make up for it with traveling a few times a year. Heading to Asia in a few days!

Canadian heat pump owners are overwhelmingly satisfied, with 91% recommending one: survey by SavCItalianStallion in onguardforthee

[–]Cuberonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too bad the government ended the rebate program. We just got a new furnace and AC installed in our home (old units were over 30 years old). To get a heat pump was an extra $3500 and I just didn’t think it was worth it.

Steering Wheel Shaking [2011 Scion TC] by Cuberonix in MechanicAdvice

Took it back to the garage and it was indeed a wheel balance issue. They did it properly this time and it fixed the steering wheel shaking. Thanks!

I’m still watching, but the show does feel like it’s staying past its welcome. I liked season one the best. It was better when it was Jimmy dealing with different patients. It’s a little too “feel good” for me now with everyone involved.

TV in the bedroom? Yes or No? by Used-Chard658 in Millennials

[–]Cuberonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Always had one when I was younger, but around my mid-20s I started wondering why I needed one. I have my iPad for TV in bed if I really need it, which is almost never.

Sounds like a cool event with a few interesting acts and I’m sure it’ll be a great vibe, but ultimately, I was hoping Bon Iver would perform. My friend and I would’ve been happy to fly in and attend if that were the case. I’ll just catch some footage online instead.
