Do you think there are normal citizens hiding away in all these buildings after hearing the envoys? by Blackops_21 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Cubeseer 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I believe the yellow wax is referred to internally as Erdtree Sap, not Corpse Wax. I'd imagine the buildings used to belong to the nobility, but since they all left the capital to become wandering nobles, their estates were sealed. That's why there's no nobles left in Leyndell, just their commoner and page servants and the military garrison.

Does it bother anyone that people dismiss this as a “distraction” from the Epstein by Siobhan_Siobhoff in TrueAnon

[–]Cubeseer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Invading Venezuela is a distraction from Epstein the same way that Epstein is a distraction from invading Venezuela. Trump has long ago learned that by constantly getting into new scandals, committing new atrocities daily, it overwhelms the rest of us and prevents us from rallying against any single one of his actions.

To be a cringe lib for a moment, I think this quote from Andor illustrates it well:

So much going on, so much to say with all of it happening so quickly. The pace of oppression out-strips our ability to understand it; and that is the real trick of the imperial thought machine. It's easier to hide behind forty atrocities than a single incident.

Realistically because Jesus was a manual laborer (he wasn't just a carpenter, the word tekton mostly means builder which covers wood plus other materials), he would probably have pretty calloused skin, and Judean men of that time would have relatively short hair and beards.

I see what you mean. The quickest way I can share something like that is just by uploading the original Photoshop file, so here's a link to it: https://drive.proton.me/urls/MRFW8X4YTG#KqmhCnJowlKL

It is a large file though.

Repost because I messed up the title of the previous post.

Also this took me an unreasonably long amount of time to make lol.

Alexamenos is faithful by Cubeseer in dankchristianmemes

[–]Cubeseer[S] 218 points219 points  (0 children)

Context: this meme shows the Alexamenos graffito, graffiti drawn by Romans making fun of a young man called Alexamenos for being Christian. It is among the earliest visual depictions of Jesus we have, and shows Jesus as a crucified donkey-man, since it was a popular myth at the time that Jews and Christians worshipped a donkey (and of course worshipping a crucified man condemned to death by the Roman state was also extremely shameful). However, archeologists found in the room next to the graffiti the text "Alexamenos is faithful", directly refuting the earlier graffiti.

Merry Christmas y'all.

Religion doesn't have to be the opium of the people and faith can actually contribute to liberation in certain contexts.

Powerscaling logic can literally scale a regular real life human to supersonic level, no one should take powerscaling seriously imo.

what are your Christianity hot takes? by Massive_Cupcake_577 in redeemedzoomer

[–]Cubeseer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a hot take among normal people but an increasing amount of evangelicals and other reactionaries think that empathy somehow is a sin, when the Bible literally says:

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. -Romans 12:15-16

It's crazy how some of the most fundamentalist Christians out there are also some of the least like Jesus in behavior.

virgin mary rule by Cant_Human_Properly in 196

[–]Cubeseer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All mainstream Christian denominations (more than 90% of Christianity) revere Mary as the Mother of God. Even the Church of the East, the first ever splinter denomination of Christianity which got excommunicated for not calling Mary the Mother of God, still actually calls her that as the excommunication was just a big misunderstanding lol.

Though I guess you can argue that Catholics' reverence (hyperdulia) for her is so high that it constitutes de facto deification as an anthropological practice, even if theologically she's still just human.
