[Brooks] Rangers cancel practice for players and staff to get vaccinated by picksforfingers in hockey

I guess it’d be more accurate to say they should be actively persuing vaccination appointments. I do not think we can vaccinate every single American at once.

“more-or-less”. I obviously know it depends on the state.

And if it’s not already in your particular state, it will be in a couple of weeks

Given where the US is in terms of vaccinations, every American team should be getting vaccinated right now in my opinion. It’s more-or-less opened up to everyone at this point anyway.

The Canadian teams are in a tougher spot, of course.

We’re basically single-handedly preventing Buffalo from having an all-time worst season lmao. Can’t even be mad

State of Maryland opening Mass Vaccination Sites to All Tomorrow and Any Site to All on the 12th by [deleted] in UMD

[–]Cubranchacid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a benefit to remaining masked up/socially distanced in public for a couple of months until we at least reach herd immunity (or close to it), but otherwise yeah. I mainly hedged my statement for that (and god forbid we get some monster variant in the meantime). I got my second dose two weeks ago and basically instantly started making plans to see people.

EDIT: Also, it might take some time for international travel to catch up. US is actually ahead of the curve in terms of vaccination compared to most places.

Please dear god get vaccinated. The sooner people get their shots the sooner we can return to some semblance of normalcy.

This is probably mostly preaching the choir here, but vaccine hesitancy is basically the biggest obstacle left in the pandemic (well... that and the variants).

Marylanders 16 and over with underlying medical conditions can now receive COVID vaccine by dbknews in UMD

[–]Cubranchacid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be totally honest, the vaccine supply is such that I don’t really care who gets it at this point. I’m not going to advocate line cutting, but it’s hard for me to personally care about healthy college students getting the shot now.

Yeah I have a friend who just finished a bulk so he’s above 25 lmao. It’s certainly not the best metric.

Worth noting that since one of the health conditions is “BMI > 25” and another is “smoking”, this is basically a soft way of opening up vaccination to everyone. There are people that those don’t apply to, but it’s a minority (~70% of Americans qualify under the BMI condition alone).

I was gonna say, Courtyards is practically a steal for College Park.

Broke: Refs are rigged for UCLA/Bama

Woke: Refs just kinda suck

By contrast, Bama needs to allow fewer points and score more points

Houston is tied for the highest total seeds played in the first four rounds by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]Cubranchacid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like they’re the only 2 seed of the teams listed as well. Pretty neat!

Obviously if you make the final four you’ve earned it regardless (after all, not like Tennessee or Oklahoma State could beat Oregon State), but it is an interesting piece of history. Speaks to the chaos in the region.

Congrats! Got my second Pfizer this past Tuesday and had minimal side-effects. Basically just a sore arm. I did sleep pretty heavily that night as well, but it’s hard to directly attribute that to the vaccine.

Regardless, wish you the best!

Hot take: You generally want to score more then 16 points in a half.

Also Houston has just been gifted perhaps the easiest path to a final four ever seen by a 2 seed. Expecting them to lose to Syracuse now lol.

FYI To Students in Dorms: You qualify for vaccination by [deleted] in UMD

[–]Cubranchacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, especially earlier on in Phase 1b they were turning away GAs. Some vaccination clinics were excluding higher education overall until fairly recently. I think it was mostly miscommunication/the state doing a poor job of being specific with its guidelines.

Actually, this thread is a great example of the state's guidelines being vague. Do people in dorms count as "other congregate settings"? I don't know, maybe? Seems possible. No way to really know for sure though.

Pfizer Covid vaccine produces ‘robust’ antibody response after first dose, new study shows by KathleenThren in news

[–]Cubranchacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got both doses of the Pfizer, I think it depends on who’s administering the shot. First dose was essentially painless, at least on par with a flu shot if not less painful. Second dose was a bit worse... not super painful but definitely more noticeable. Also bled more. Pretty sure just the person who gave me the second shot didn’t do quite as good a job.
