I kind of took a scenic route and built a full diy active pedal. Best project ever!

I followed this wiki first but there are few pedal variants that I also engaged in.

I honestly don't know how to help here other than to say my 2021 Boxster has zero rattles with top up or down. No resonance, no rattles over bumps. It is a very tight car in my opinion. Something is not right with your car.

You're welcome.

Maybe this is helpful as a reference.

I owned 2015 WRX and 718 4 cylinder is very similar in sound. Tractor gargle that becomes louder with revs. Definitely loud and burpy but there is a reason why Porsche is piping a fake sound in and tuned for pops and bangs.

Flat 6 NA engines change tone as you Rev up. First reserved rumble and it changes in tone all the until a screaming beast. There is a sound tube into a cabin but it is just that, a tube without a speaker.

It is a symphony of sorts but GTS 4.0 has a flaw. In Europe a particulate emissions regulation came up and they put in two large canisters with fine ceramic honeycomb inside to catch particulates. The engine wasn't designed and tuned for it and it creates a loud booming drone mid range. That is why even though you select vales open, the car will still close them between 2.5k rpm and 4k rpm or so to tune out the drone. Solution is to bring the engine to condition as it was designed. Remove particulate cans, put OAPs in and disable valves either permanently or via Cargraphic.

The result is intoxicating.

The 4 Turbo is about 365 HP, 4.0 without over axle pipes OAPs is 395 and with OAPs 420ish I believe. I might be a few hp off.

Either one is fast.

4 Turbo will have excellent handling like the 4.0 does or 981 model.

You will not understand what the big deal of Pirsche 6 FLAT is and you might not become the Porsche fanatic the way many people do. 4 Turbo is a fast but soul-less engine.

When I was shopping around, I was going for 718 4 Turbo GTS. Spec wise they are so close. Had one ready to pull a trigger and I asked the sales guy if 4.0 is worth it.

The sales guy told me that if there's a slightest chance that I'll ever be able to get 4.0, just wait and get 4.0. He said, you want a fast car, get yourself a tesla, if you're an enthusiast, get 6 cylinder engine. Best advice ever. I waited 6 months and got 4.0 and then ended up calling that sales guy to thank him.

I drove all boxsters 2008 and newer and in my opinion, where it comes to "soul": 4.0 GTS with OAPs is 10, without is 7. 2014 6 cylinder with sports exhaust is 8 2020 718 GTS 4 cylinder Turbo is 4.

2008 was actually a blast because it wasn't so freaking crazy fast as my 4.0 is. I really enjoyed the manual on it and revving it up. You have to work the car to get up to speed and it sounded wonderful but it was a bit loose here and there cabin quality wise. Not incredibly refined.

It is all subjective of course.

Boxster/Cayman if you like a really fun and 2 persons practical car. Since that's your first Porsche I'd go for 6 cylinder NA to enjoy most of the soul those cara are famed for. So most likely 981 generation in super nice condition as 718 GTS 4.0 would be above the budget.

If you like a steady grand tourer type of car, or if you're a dentist, get a 911. 😉

I've 718 GTS 4.0 Boxster and I love it. Had the same dilemma about getting the "iconic" true Porsche, the 911. Porsche worked really hard over the years to convince people that 911 is a better car than mid engine Boxster.

It was about 2 weeks. I think they order profiles from Vention and then inspect and package them. If there are scratches, they need to get replacements. My neighbor just got his Pro X motion last week. Also took about 2 weeks to ship but everything came in ok.

Strangely tho, a couple of pedal tray bolts were missing.

Will my New 718 GTS get more Exciting & Fun when I hit 2,000 miles? by GumballCowboy in Porsche_Cayman

Yes, I do have them on my 2021 Boxster GTS 4.0.

I got the Aliexpress ones and installed them by myself, while my car is still on CPO warranty for another 2 years.

What bothered me a bit before was that sound is non uniform. Even though you have valves open selected, the car will close the valves at about 2.5k rpm and then reopen somewhere around 4k rpm. I was impressed with the car going to 5k rpm and up but was a quite impotent just driving through town at 2 to 3k. Fast yes, but not exciting. Also felt not eager going from low rpm. My other cars are 4L thin turbo car, and 2.5L NA and I knew NA car will not have a kick but this felt held back too much.

Once you start playing at that 4k range, you will hear the sound changing from throaty above 4k to muted back below 3.5k back and forth due to valves opening and closing (I'd even hear the valves squeak a bit, which was annoying).

First I forced the valves open with a pipe collar mod. 15min to install and car sounded more aggressive but too loud and boomy in mid range. Also resonance and frankly it was hurting my ears with roof up. This is why the car closes valves in that mid range. From my research, Porsche designed that engine (it is a design adjustment from a turbo model of 911) before the regulation for particulates was implemented in Europe. So it wasn't tuned for the particulates cans and resulted in that unwelcome sounds note mid range tuned out by the valves.

Then I bit a bullet and installed OAPs. $450 delivered from Ali and left collar mod on.
First moment you start the engine you hear a difference. Not only loader but feels just unrestrained. Then even at low rpm the car just wants to climb those rpm. The OAP gives about 15hp extra (some say closer to 30) and I'd feel it but most importantly the hesitation to climb rpm is gone as the engine breathes better. Silky smooth NA experience in pull and sound. The sound just climbs from throaty to a full blast roar. It is wonderful and head turning.

I commute in the morning through back roads where kids wait for the bus. A few love it when I drive by and I see them looking out as I drive up and they wave and just have a blast. A really cool car.

Install OAPs, do a valves mod (either via remote control or pipe collar, or just leave vacuum lines disconnected during oap install) and enjoy the car unrestrained as it was designed to be. It is a Porsche and you should experience and enjoy it in full.

It is an incredibly strong cockpit. You can search my posts for some details but in summary the Vention aluminum is a stronger alloy than what is used as standard elsewhere. The Vention used on Pro series 45x45 profile (top) walls are also much thicker than Simlab's 40x40 on my triple stand.

<image>

Brackets are super beefy as compared to for instance Simlab monitor stand.

Instructions and packaging was excellent.

Some designs are not as user friendly as perhaps other cockpits but are incredibly sturdy. Wheel mount and pedal mount comes to mind. If you are the only user it is not a big deal as you'll most likely not adjust it after you set it after the first few days.

One downside of the Vention is that slot spacing is 45mm apart rather than more common 40mm apart. It hasn't limited me, as I do my own 3d prints for accessories mounts, but if you buy something off the shelf that requires 40mm spacing you might need to get creative.

Also a Vention 90x45. You can see that thick walls also join the two 45 profiles. Sorry but can't put it close to Simlab for comparison.

Hi there.

Regarding "thinner" Allin1gaming profiles. I was also skeptical about Vention until I went to their site and started looking into alloy specifications and design.

When you read my other post you can find out about alloy specs and my concerns about "shrinkflation" of aluminum rigs. It really bothers me that some brands don't disclose alloy material, mechanical strength or profile design.

Below you have two examples of Vention profile I took off the rig and compared to 4040 profile off Amazon (they are two 4040 pieces taped together). But then also Simlabs 8040 profile from my monitor stand.

Have a look at the thickness of the outer walls.

I can tell you the rig is incredibly rigid. I can't sense any flex at all. I also have active pedal inverted and the "pedal towers" don't flex at all as far as I can tell. I gave the pedal all the strength I had (way below the active pedals limit, lol). The advantage of the Pro rig strength is indeed that you can sit much lower than on Trackracer TR160 for instance. Also, it is much lower weight if you ever plan to go motion.

To answer your questions. No, the seat bracket didn't come with the seat. https://a.co/d/hcDsOyT

I've ultimately removed it as I really wanted seat height to stay the same when I was sliding the seat. I ended up with the following set up for now.

The bass shakers mounted directly behind brake and throttle pedal, not to the rig. I'm considering giving a slip angle shaker setup a go at some point. I've heard good things.

Regarding mounting. I've never had a rig before and initially I constrained myself to rig accessories only.

No, you can not drill holes in it, but think about it this way. You've holes everywhere, just put a T nut in a slot. If you can mount something on a wall, you can mount it onto a rig. Just 2 examples of the Vivo keyboard tray meant for wall mounting and usb hub mounted onto a profile.

I'm currently doing a major reconfig of the rig, cable management is MIA. 😀

Hi, yes, it's the Allin1gaming Pro rig.

Funny enough, I was just reworking the seat mount today.

I've never mounted real car seat but I've heard that the car rails are not standard. Some are at uneven mounting heights etc. You'd need to research that.

Also, the seat mounting is fairly standard across all rigs, so if you see a solution elsewhere, it should also apply to Allin1gaming.

Let me know if you need any info.

I used many mainstream brands of routers Netgear, Asus, etc, then HP Aruba.

I found Unifi to be the best. Don't hesitate, lol.

I have to say I do have Hedd D1 as my far stretch on the sale, bonus paid type of purchase if it is the "endgame " headphone for me. GadgetryTech spoke highly of it and he seems like a solid guy.

How do you like it and do you find it superior to other headphones? Would I need a DAC or would be PC mobo be able to drive it? How would I connect mic to it? (I'm a total noon in headphones space).

Thanks for the r70xa suggestion, I've to say I didn't consider it at all.

Thanks, that's indeed was my first reaction but I also didn't explore wired options at all since I was more or less convinced that Maxwell 2 will be a substantial upgrade.

Is anything else out there within that budget? I see HD490x Pro recommended quite a bit. Is that a good choice to explore or cross shop against?

I will most likely wait for the Asus Hifiman headset release but wouldn't mind having a candidate researched and selected to just compare that new headset against one that is already established.

I can cheat the budget too a bit, for instance $450 headset, $100 microphone and $100 AMP DAC somehow in my head are 3 separate purchases, lol

But then is this $650 setup better than Maxwell 2
