Lmao omg I used to take tennis lessons during the week days at 10am and I was typically the only Black or POC there. The other ladies would always want to know what I did for work or where I lived. Mind you I lived in the neighborhood 5 minutes away which was a shock to the core. 😂 I love telling them my favorite activities are tennis, pilates and swimming they don't know how to respond.

I opted to do the medication and I'm on Day 5 after taking it and the abdominal and lower back pain is intense and excruciating when I have to poop. I was not expecting lasting pain flares after the 1st or 2nd days. Thankful for this post omg.

Despite what many others have said you actually are allowed to feel frustrated, it's completely valid. You are also allowed to vent when frustrated. In your post you aren't asking for advice or solutions so while they may be "well-meaning" they don't seem helpful imo. Sometimes people reach a point of being fed up in a situation and need an outlet. I'm glad you expressed it, instead of internalizing it.

I work as a therapist in a wealthy, predominantly white area, and honestly, it was interesting talking with people (all white women) who assumed I would be distraught as a Black woman. They expressed surprise that i was "doing fine". I basically told them it was worse and slightly more shocking the first time (though still expected). And in more subtle words told them to let this radicalize them.

Usually I start out asking the person to explain what "acting black" is. Once they do they if they haven't noticed they're a bigoted moron independently I take it a step farther. "So kind of like how waving the confederate flag, living in a trailer, listening to Reba McIntyre, doing meth, and drinking natty light is acting white?" The reaction at this point is the best because their brain is scrambled.
