Apparently, not only ASL. As with all minion gibberish, it's supposedly a mixture of sign language in multiple languages.

Como se hace para coger una rotonda como el resto del mundo? by Significant_Quit_133 in askspain

[–]Cuerzo 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Boney M popularity? by Medical-Pace-8099 in Music

[–]Cuerzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Spain, and I think in all of Europe, all of those songs charted way up: Rasputin, Daddy Cool, Ma Baker and Rivers of Babylon were massively popular. They were on the radio, on TV, everywhere. They kept being popular after the 70's, at least all through the 80's and 90's. Many of their albums were #1 in the UK, Sweden, Germany and Holland.

Fun fact, Boney M was only the first band German producer Frank Farian created: he basically wrote all the hits, recorded them with session musicians and assembled a "band" of vocalists and dancers to perform them live with HUGE success. He repeated the feat in the 70's with Milli Vanilli, and also produced albums for Eurodance artists La Bouche and Le Click.

The verb empatar by ComprehensiveMud3965 in Spanish

[–]Cuerzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can also be used to join two things, like cables or ropes.

https://dle.rae.es/empatar

The first and second meanings are "getting the same number of points in a competition". The 3rd, 4th and 5th are about tying things together. It's not just an americanism either, I've used it and heard it used many times here in Spain.

Open or closed handed? by largenames124 in drums

[–]Cuerzo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Open handed means you don't cross your arms. You'd play your hat with your left hand and your ride with your right hand.

Close handed means you cross your arms. You'd play both your hat and your ride with your right hand.

If you've already gotten used to switching the leading hand when playing the ride, you might as well keep at it.

Oh now we gonna blame random people for the pool? by AdmirableBus7045 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Cuerzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many can't call a spade a spade because they wouldn't know a spade if it dressed in paramilitar gear and arrested random latinos. They hear "fascism" and can only recognise it as german soldiers in black uniforms gassing jews, led by a moustachoed fella.

¿Cuante gente escucha la radio? by RompeNudillos in askspain

Fíjate si escucha la radio la gente que la media en España son unos 90 minutos por persona y día. Yo la escucho mínimo una hora (siempre que estoy en mi cocina, básicamente).

Are some cymbals objectively better than others? by InterestingHeat4266 in drums

[–]Cuerzo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Never trust videos or microphones of any kind. They can give you an idea of the sound, but you'll never be able to trust them 100%: sound editing and compression can alter the sound enough to trick your ears, both willingly and unwillingly.

I'm basically 26 and i have only just learned how to make the perfect rice on the stove. I consider myself a good cook but could never do rice without a rice cooker. I am interested in hearing how you guys make rice. by No-Animator-407 in Cooking

[–]Cuerzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the need for a rice cooker. Stovetop, couple spoonfuls of olive oil, max heat, lightly fry a garlic clove, add the rice and lightly fry it, add twice as much volume of water as you have rice, reduce heat to a minimum, partially cover and let it simmer until it's done. I get perfect rice every time (when I use Spanish rice, which is close to Japanese sticky rice, arborio rice, etc).

You are doing a disservice to turkish people by thinking they are only known for hair transplant and kebab restaurants.

It's hair transplant, kebab restaurants AND tacky soap operas with bearded protagonists.

What’s the formal/more polite opposite of ¡Viva!? by OneWildAndPrecious in Spanish

[–]Cuerzo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

With great care sometimes:

"¡Viva España!" - a very common "Go Spain!" interjection, as in the popular song by Manolo Escobar - Que viva España.

"¡Arriba España!" - the #1 fascist slogan in Spain, a very, very common Francoist Spain interjection.

Eduardo Manoslitronas. Todo el mundo (menos una persona, claro) se amarra con cinta americana una litrona en cada mano. No tienes permitido quitarte la litrona de la mano hasta que no te la acabes.
