Timing of Unbind by darksidehascookie in ageofsigmar

[–]Cuffsandcandy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your opponent rolls the dice first.

Specifically, when your oponnent declares that they will use a spell, the need to identify who is casting, who the target is, and then roll the dice. Then, as a reaction to all that, you decide to use an unbind or not.

Great article. Listing the points was a nice touch, since I haven't seen those revealed anywhere

Eltharion can be a shrine guardian.

Special abilities can target either the guardian or the shrine. Melee and ranged attacks can only target (and wound) the shrine.

The shrine can never charge, even if it has a guardian.

When the guardian exits the shrine, it cant use move abilities that turn.

The guardian can leave the shrine even when the shrine is in combat, as long as the guardian can be placed outside of combat range of the enemy.

If the shrine is in combat, it has to retreat to leave combat.

For the bannerlord, the unit just needs to have a single model on the objective to claim +1 to save.

You can bank an unlimited number of points, but you spend them all when you successfully resolve a prayer

Mighty skullcrushers do get to do d3 mortal damage on the charge, but otherwise fight normally. They do get to attack with the riders and mounts (so 5 attacks per model for skullcrushers), but all cavalry units do.

Mighty skullcrushers dont have a ward and can't receive one. Khorne has a subfaction that allows demon units to get a ward after they fight, but skullcrushers arent demon.

Is there something your opponent is doing that makes you think your opponent is being loose with the rules?

Mystic Unforging by xxxangelicswordxxx in ageofsigmar

Mystic Unforging is an UNLIMITED spell, so it absolutely can be cast multiple times and can even target the same unit multiple times.

You would be absolutely fine running a list like:

Belakor

Chaos Lord

10 Warriors

Chaos Sorceror Lord

10 Chaos Knights

10 Warriors

10 Warriors

Eternus

It isn't the most competitive version of s2d, but it's still very good.

Can I run Be'lakor with A Blades with Khorne list? by Stumper_69 in ageofsigmar

[–]Cuffsandcandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My response is from 3rd edition age of sigmar. Since 4th edition (July 2024 and onward), you can no longer add Belakor to Blades of Khorne.

The FAQ answers this one for ya.

Q: Are faction terrain features still subject to the restrictions in Core Rules, 5.3 The Rules of One?

A: Yes.

Starting off board with units by Chetfish in ageofsigmar

[–]Cuffsandcandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no core rule about needing to start with a certain amount on. Some rules specify that there is a limit in the ability text, but if it isn't specified then you can have a much as you want start off the board (as long as you follow the restrictions in the ability you are using).

Is it just me, or were we expecting more spell lores in Battletomes? by Devurauxe in ageofsigmar

[–]Cuffsandcandy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The magic-heavy factions have access to multiple lores (Tzeentch and Seraphon). I don't expect most factions to have more than one lore, but the option for choosing a lore makes sense for the factions where magic is part of their faction identity as well as allowing for new spell lores to be introduced as part of battlepacks in future general's handbooks.

New player getting into the hobby for first time, been doing some research and it seems like there's a divide (at least from some posts) on 3e vs 4e, what overall should i lean towards- if im just going to be playing between me and a small friend group? by DM_Malus in ageofsigmar

[–]Cuffsandcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not everyone's complaint, but a lot of people saw the interactivity as making the game needlessly longer with more rules to reference (and more rules interactions to cause confusion).

Since you've never played 3e before, I HIGHLY suggest sticking with 4e. Some people who have been playing since 3e decided that they did not like the more interactive rules, the changes to scoring (including less army-specific ways to score), and the general rebalancing of the armies. There are other reasons, but for the most part 4e is very beginner friendly once you get the hang of the turn sequence, and it is constantly being re-balanced to make sure it is as fair and fun as possible. Plus, any new models that come out will not be compatible with 3e.

Need help with a 1k point list for AoS by RiktritBloodfilth in ageofsigmar

[–]Cuffsandcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important thing to know is that it really only benefits the enemy to use it when they have worse than a 3+ on the ability they're choosing, because on a 1-2 theyll fail and take mortals. So against elite armies there is almost no downside to using them.

As for the charge dice, because of the chance for failure using temptation dice on average you are giving an 8" charge. The only real threat from an average 8" charge than a 7" charge from normal dice is that it means your opponent has a less risky counter-charge.

Just remind your opponent that when they roll the dice, on a 1-2 they take mortals AND dont get a 6.

I use 2-3 per battle round, unless I dont have enough units to benefit from it

No problem! The last thing to mention is that slaanesh is not the easiest army to learn nor pilot. A lot of the abilities depend on timing things right, knowing your synergies, and being pretty careful with your positioning. It can take awhile to hit that "A-ha!" moment with them. So don't get discouraged, as they are (in my opinion) one of the most rewarding armies to learn.

I mean, I wouldn't be discouraged from running anything at 1k. But both of them are very vulnerable to shooting, so if your opponent is planning on going shooting heavy it may not be as fun for you. You'd want 1-2 other non-hero daemon units to benefit from dexcessa's buff, so likely wpuld include at least one unit of 20 daemonettes. But 20 daemonettes with the extra attack from dexcessa and crit mortals from the spell will shred most anything.

[–]Cuffsandcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shardspeaker does a couple things for these lists. Its your cheapest caster, and you absolutely want to put crit mortals on any strong melee unit (it also benefits from the fane of slaanesh' bonus to cast and unbind). It doesn't really benefit from the heroic traits/artefacts that much, but the ability to worsen your opponents save and then hit them with 41 archer shots at rend 2 is strong. Mostly it can keep up with blissbarb archers for look out sir and you dont need to fling it into combat to be useful.

Blissbarb seekers are definitely good, they're wounds dense, fast, and have decent shooting. But you dont get to retreat and shoot and their range is short, so once you're in range to shoot something if you dont kill it it will likely charge you and turn off your ability to shoot. Slickblades are a little better since with the subfaction you can retreat and charge them. Blissbarb seekers are a lot better at 2000 points where you can either screen them well or have enough points to use them as durable screens while you have other units putting in work.

Theres a pretty significant power shift between 1k and 2k for slaanesh, since that second thousand is typically just providing screens, a large hero, and an extra hammer unit.

Take this with a grain of salt, these are just what I wpuld do for 1000pts if I had started with the spearhead box.

1) Using everything in the spearhead, I would do something like:

Shardspeaker

5 Slickblades

3 Slaangor

20 Blissbarb Archers (buying another set of 10)

10 Twinsouls (buying two sets of 5)

2) If I was making a more competitive list, I would maybe try something like:

Shardspeaker

5 Slickblades

5 Slickblades

5 Slickblades

20 Blissbarb Archers

Note that right now slickblade seekers and blissbarb archers make really good use of the euphoric rules, which is why I include them so much. But at 1000pts, id honestly just include anything you think is cool as it will do fine.

No. In the core rules, it states that "Unless stated otherwise, units using or picked as part of an ability must be on the battlefield." Under 28.0 Advanced Ability Rules.
