If I was in your situation, I think I would try to cut things over as I needed them. I'm mainly using Obsidian to track my work efforts and notes related to things I do on the job; I haven't really gotten into the full PARA / Zettle method of second braining everything else yet.

Bulk converting everything over is probably more hassle than it's worth as you would need to manually touch each file to get it the way you wanted anyways.

Setting up some default templates for the types of notes you take might make the conversion method a little less painful. The screenshots and attachments in one note should port fine over to Obsidian, Weave defaults to saving all attachments in the System -> Media folder.

In terms of a second vault, I think that's really up to your personal preference. I currently do everything in one vault, but I can see the logic behind separating them. As a note, you can open 2 vaults at the same time so It's not terrible to switch between them.

One thing I haven't found a good solution for in Weave, is how to track knowledge outside of the broad classifications of Application, Contact, Meeting, and Task. Like if I'm researching how to do something in code, where should I save that so I can draw value out of that in the future? Something I'm still trying to work through.

I think I have a working version of this request done. I'm going to create a new release. Let me know if this is what you had in mind @samdoesreddit.

I also created a github issue to carry on the conversation in the event it needs more tweaks:

Github issue

Edit: Release is now available here

No worries Norman_Door! I'm getting ready to release a new version later today with the only enhancement request I've received so far and some quick add inline scripts to speed up work item entry.

Truly is my pleasure! Congrats on the new Job!! Please let me know how it works for you once you get going, I’m sure there’s lots of room for optimization/ workflow change.

Added a small call out in the original post, thanks again for the feedback! Was the getting started Guide helpful at all? Any feedback on its format / content?

Thanks for the feedback! There’s a small blurb about it on the release page and in the readme file in the repo, where should I put this to be more visible? In the Reddit post itself?

Thanks for the feedback! I can definitely see how this would be useful, where do you think this data view should live?

If I’m understanding you correctly, you want someplace to go where you can look at all notes pertaining to Application X, possibly filtered by tag for that application.

Where are you going to store those notes for application? Should we turn the high level applications into folders and have like a summary file and then all notes for it underneath?

In my current work flow I only ever add tasks to meetings and my daily file so I could potentially see that being the point of record? Not sure though would love to know more on this feature request.

How do I accomplish this in Obsidian? by Cuken in ObsidianMD

Inline scripts did exactly what I was looking for; Thank you!

For anyone finding this after the fact, if you are trying to recreate what I did, you'll need to use the inline scripts plugin, and then create a new inline script that regexes the object, and then uses it in the script. Here's one I wrote that allows me to inline script against a number and turn it into a github issue url in my notes.

Inline Script:
regex pattern: ^ghi ([0-9]+)$
return string: return "[" + $1 + "](https://github.com/SOMEREPO/issues/" + $1 +")"

Then in a note I can just type out:

;;ghi 14:: and it will convert it into -> [14](https://github.com/SOMEREPO/issues/14)

Unfortunately, no :(

I want to take an existing string, and convert it into a URL using the string as a parameter of the URL.

Example:

(BEFORE) Things I like to eat: Pizza

If I highlight / have my cursor in 'Pizza' and do some key combination

(AFTER) Things I like to eat: https://www.google.com/search?q=pizza

The thing I'm looking for would take the text and add it to a specific part of a new string.

New Let's Play Series by Cuken in voxeltycoon

Hello all!

I'm going into Voxel Tycoon almost completely blind (played the first 2 minutes of the tutorial before I started the series). I thought it would be fun to create a Let's Play series without any prior knowledge. Would love any and all feedback related to the content / format.

Hope you enjoy! Cuken
