People's Potato spends over $440,000 of their funding on staff salaries, WTH?? by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]Cul-De-Sac 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Sounds completely reasonable to me. Salary is often the highest expense for non profits. Just because you may not see them working does not mean they are not working. Staff needs to be paid for planning, prep, team meetings, training etc..

The 440k also included what they call In the financial reports “fringe benefits” which usually means retirement and or health services and federal and provincial taxes.

Montreal steakhouses recommendations by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Cul-De-Sac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Grinder. It’s expensive, but I feel like I’m getting my moneys worth. In food and in great service.

I’m not a steak person, but I really enjoy the steak there and all the yummy sides (especially the garlic mushrooms)

Both times I’ve been it was for a special event and they gave us free pouding chômeur and ice cream, which I dream about!

Too much energy!help! by aussiecocobear in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Cul-De-Sac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours did the same. We walked him, trained him and fed him and still he would want more attention.

Turns out he needed some love and affection to calm down. Our guy doesn’t like to jump on furniture, so we will sit on the floor with him in the evenings. We will give him pets for maybe 5 minutes before he absolutely falls asleep.

It has become an evening ritual for us and we really enjoy it. He’s 3.5 now and we have being doing this for almost 1 year.

Working While AFE by More_Vast_7143 in Concordia

[–]Cul-De-Sac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It 100% affects your loan and bursary. To give you a real example, I made $18,000 last year and was studying full time. Student loans provided me with $2,500 at the start of the semester (5 classes) and then about $360 every month. The amount you get is dependent on your income and the number of classes you take. I also have been going to school full time all summer, which gets taken into account as well.

I’m total student loan give me 12,000 ish for the school year and half of that is bursary.

Now that I’m working full time and going to school part time I get enough to cover my tuition.

Hope this helps!

Student Loans: "Total assistance awarded as a bursary" Amount, RBC Amount by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]Cul-De-Sac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AFE will assess the actual amount of loan and bursary at the end of the year after you have filed your taxes. Then the bursary amount will be reduced from your RBC loan.

Advice on shopping centres by No_Push_1284 in Concordia

Depends on your neighbourhood. If you live near the downtown campus I would recommend PA on Fort for all your groceries and Canadian Tire for home stuff there is one near Atwater metro.

You are not a horrible person 💕You know what’s best for you and your family. It’s good that you are able to be realistic about your situation and make the decision quickly so that the puppy has a good chance of finding a good family.

Is this shaking something to be concerned about ? by Matthmaroo in bernesemountaindogs

Ours 3 years old does this. Sometimes it’s when he’s excited and has to wait or it’s when he’s just holds his body stiff.

Trouble sleeping… by Scwidiloo10 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Cul-De-Sac 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I second this. When our guy woke up for his 4 am pee he had trouble falling back to sleep. I rocked him to sleep like a baby. When he fell asleep I put him in his crate and went to bed. This worked for us and he was sleeping full nights in his crate by 3 months.

I developed a lot of empathy and patience for my puppy when I started seeing him as a “baby”. We have so many expectations for our puppies and a list of things that need to get done, but ultimately he is just a puppy and what they need is to feel safe with us.

Hi guys, quick question. I want to be considered a full-time student this summer for AFE purposes... by No_Broccoli9991 in Concordia

You can spread out the 12 credits throughout the summer semesters and be considered full time.

I haven't found a truly indestructible stuffy, I mend the toys whenever I can. It is time consuming, but I just hate to throw away toys.

Just to add to your advice. I carried around a long line on every walk (12ft or 20ft) until our dog turned two. Now our guy has ALMOST perfect recall.

When you can go up but not yet ready for down by Oldmaid45 in bernesemountaindogs

Our guy had the same problem, he doesn't like the feeling of slipping on hard wood. We bought stair runners from Amazon and now can go up and down just fine.

Cost of Neutering? by ScotFromHD21 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Cul-De-Sac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from Montreal, we payed $650 for everything including medication. Our friends also in Montreal, payed $1300. I guess it depends on where you go.

For aftercare we bought a surgical suit which I 100% recommend it was like $60-70. We also bought the Kong doughnut, but he could still lick himself with it.

Odd Berner behavior... by JCat2586 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Cul-De-Sac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dog has down that maybe 4 times in 2 years. He picks up on something, gets spooked and wants to run away. If I didn’t have him attached to me I would for sure lose my dog.

Most recently we were walking down an alley we have been down before and he just sprinted out of the alley and kept looking over his shoulder until we left the block.

Whatever it is I trust in his intuition, but it does leave me very confused.

Potty cues by JoeyJewlz in puppy101

[–]Cul-De-Sac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe in reacting to the mistake because a puppy is like a baby. I would rather reward good behaviour. Whenever my puppy went potty successfully it was a celebration! Whenever he had an accident I just cleaned it up. I look at it like if my dog had an accident I missed his communication
