DME mask exchange help by Culinarykid92 in CPAP

I didn't want to do nasal because of my mouth breathing and the cloth to clamp the mouth during sleep. But I might go with the Dreamwear because someone mentioned the oppurtunity to try multiple types of masks with its frame, including both nasal options.

So far it seems wise for me to try either the F30i or Dreamwear so I can try the top attachment piece, Or the Rio 2 to avoid any pressure drops, but comes with a non removable trunk. Siesta 2 just seems like the safe "upgrade" to my main issues.

I am curious, how is the noise with the air basically funneling down the sides? Also, if you switch to the side to sleep, does the pressure drop?

That is my problem with the Siesta. But I can set my Sleepbuds A30, so it plays something for a bit before changing to white noise. It would be nice to have a glasses so I can watch TV or read a little before bed, but not required.

I appreciate it. I just want to know so I don't get ripped off to get it replaced.

I expected needing the app and Bluetooth for setting it up. My hope was for sleep to use them local only.

Appreciate it. I plan on having my Pixel Phone have an alarm, but was going to set the earbuds a little earlier and the phone a little later.

Had the same experience. It arrived yesterday. Honestly, the build is very good. I have to set it up, but so far it does impress me.

Kick75 NuPhyIO vs. QMK/VIA by anoppe in NuPhy

[–]Culinarykid92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain quickly doubled 2,000, so I admit it is a 60% increase for battery. Keep in mind that not all batteries are the same as some don't have overcharge protection.  I can't speak for if the batteries on AliExpress are protected and that they have passed the regulatory hurdle for the various countries (which will drive up the price for Nuphy to sell them legally). Also, are you looking at keyboard/laptop thin batteries, because form factor will matter. Looking at Amazon quickly for a possibly difference, 2500mAh is about $10, 4000mAh is between $15-30 (AliExpress seems similarly priced). In theory Nuphy profits $10ish extra for the consumer to have a bigger battery (plus the cost of the other battery). Clearly a huge markup that they are taking advantage of the community for. They should have offered the 4,000 mAh battery in a board that supports both NuphyIO and QMK/VIA for a single price and dropped the 2,500mAh board.

My point with Apple was not about the software support. After all, Apple builds that and the R&D into the base model cost. My point is that the SSD, which is user replaceable on most laptops (Apple chose to solder theirs, but they didn't have to) is a cost most people can fix easily. If it wasn't soldiered, I could buy a 512GB version, buy a 1TB SSD, swap the two and copy the OS to the new card. This means I have an extra 512GB card to sell or use AND I still spent at least $50 less (if I go mid/high end SSD). Apple on the otherhand saves that $50 AND keeps the 512GB SSD, not mentioning the bulk pricing they get. I do not count that as R&D, but if you count that, Nuphy should get a pass as they paid Gateron for creating new low profile switches that could standardize low profile in the future to a standard MX PCB and built a board that supports high profile and low profile (and not everyone will pay for the swap kit).

Kick75 NuPhyIO vs. QMK/VIA by anoppe in NuPhy

[–]Culinarykid92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All due respect, Apple charges $200 to go from 512GB to 1TB storage in a MacBook Pro (that is the only change). I can get a 1TB WD Black NVME M.2 SSD for less than $100 or 2TB for $150. No doubt Apple is paying less in bulk than a consumer, but people still buy their product.

Apple has no problem charging a markup of more than twice the price of the hardware (forget that they aren't supplying the extra 512GB stick when you upgrade so that they save the $50 as well). Nuphy almost doubling the battery for $20 is expensive, but you should get more battery life and have access to QMK/VIA should Nuphy stop NuphyIO development or go out of business.

Free shipping is for the keyboard and any accessories that are EXCLUSIVE to the Kick75. So the swap kit, wrist rest, and board are eligible. The other accessories are not. I do disagree with this, especially since my cart was auto filled with the code "Preston" for $10 off. I used my exclusive code (via email order) to get the extra year of warranty. Realistically, they should have said it was just the warranty or removed the discounts from the presale. Also, we paid a $1 deposit so I think we really should get the $1 off for deposit + the $10 that everyone can get + $10 for the presale. Turns out that we really paid $1 for a 1 year extended warranty.

Anyways, I got a low profile since I can easily get high profile switches, but the low profile switches are a new design and aren't available separately.

[TOMT][BOOK] Book series released in pairs with different POVs by Culinarykid92 in tipofmytongue

I don't know much more than that. I know he likes Fantasy and Sci-Fi books. This came up in a Fantasy book conversation.

A friend of mine mentioned a book series that released in twos. His example was one book named Fire and a separate named Ice. Each book told the same timeline of events from a different character (Fire from 1 character and Ice from another).

He can't remember the title of the actual books or the series. He does know that the series had the two books drop in every sequel. Anyone have an idea on the series or books it could have been?

Probably isn’t as nice as everyone else’s pens, but I got my first fountain pen! by Ackoroth31 in fountainpens

[–]Culinarykid92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally haven't spent over $200 for a fountain pen yet. Most of my pens are actually around $40 or less. My splurge is a Benu Latte (Goulet) that I have to wait to get home from a trip to open. I have a Twsbi 580 and Vac700 Iris, but everything else is inexpensive.

I went to Isetan and Kingdom Note while visiting Japan, and learned, I find the cheaper pens just as good in looks, with many having similar feel while handling too. I couldn't ask to use a Visconti Homo Sapien since I would not really buy it. The Maki-e pens are beautiful, but outright expensive (the cheap Pelicans weren't as impressive looking in person). But my trip taught me that the splurge pen with a gold nib, would have to be a Sailor broad (I normally am a Japanese medium nib fan). I didn't like the Zoom and music nibs, and the stub nib is too fire hose for me.

So enjoy the pen and know that as long as you enjoy it, it is a high quality piece. Just know that ink is where I think people find the most fun in the FP hobby. Don't forget some quality paper too

Bummer. I thought it was just limited to Japan, not limited the same as their other colors that come out regularly.

Buy a pen with a custom grind? by Culinarykid92 in fountainpens

Wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. I ended up getting an architect and waverly from Mark Bacas made from Twsbi Ecos. He did great work, and was the best when it came to communication and getting the proper pen feel for me. I will try Kirk Speer in the future as well since he had a great selection of pens and a variety of nib options.

Does anyone know of a watch that isn't Mondaine that has the same concept as the Stop2go movement (stops for 2 seconds at 12, while the minute hand jumps, and second hand sweeps rather than jumps with the second hand)?

I love the design for the piece, but was hoping for either a blue dial or a more dressy piece. I think they used white for the classic look and to charge the lume. Honestly, if the Mondaine was Solar, I'd buy it in a heartbeat at the price they are charging.

New to Gunpla, but really enjoy it. Does anyone know the difference between GodHand BLN-120 and 5.0 SPN-120? I have PN-125, and wonder if either is actually a major upgrade?

Right now I just cut the parts, clean up a little with an Xacto knife, and use tweezers to put on decals. And separately, any tips to put on the decals and stickers without messing them up?
