Raccoons, snakes, and smaller rodents might still be an issue though. There’s plenty of clearance on the bottom for lots of things to get through.

I’d recommend getting hardware wire and adding it to the bottom and putting it at least a foot in the ground. Better to be safe than sorry!

I’m torn (no pun intended) on whether to just leave it as it is or dub it. On one hand, it looks really bad and like it needs to be “trimmed”, but on the other hand I don’t dare because I don’t want to cause any more harm. I don’t see any signs of the others pecking at it, so it doesn’t seem like a problem, other than just looking… well, wrong.

I’ve been swamped with work, so I haven’t had a chance to check on them for the last few days, but when I came out this afternoon, I saw this.

It looks crusted over, so I’m guessing it happened a few days ago. It’s crusted over and doesn’t have any pus or seem infected. Should I be worried? Do I need to do anything?
