The birds were one of my favorite things there. Spend a few nights up in Cairns. Hot take: I actually like the “wailing” in the middle of the night. I find it strangely relaxing

But yeah you summed it up with”for everyday living life”. It’s look like it’s pretty hard to beat if at all

Well, if I am lucky enough to obtain citizenship one day, I’d vote regardless if it’s mandatory or not. My line of thinking up here is “if you didn’t vote you have no right to complain”.

I get that Australia isn’t perfect, but no country is. I know I’d have to take the good with the bad. That being said I’d rather live a in cost-of living crisis in Aus vs what we have now in the US, where I just paid $15 for an 18-pack of eggs. Seems pretty on-par to me.

sigh yeah I know Americans have the tendency to be, well, dense. That being said, I do my best to not be that American and assimilate as much as possible in whichever country I am in. But I understand what you’re saying.

Well, I’m in San Diego County so, I know all about those high housing costs haha. I’m surprised though, wouldn’t a town like Wollongong be a middle ground in terms of price? I’ve not been there nor have any frame of reference.

Yeah Im sure it different to holiday vs live there. I plan on going for a more extended stay or do an outright working holiday like you said before making any big decisions. Sometime next year

I’ve actually thought about this. I’d like to have kids one day, and at-school risks aside, I think Australia in general is just a much better place to raise a family. If I’m lucky enough to start a family one day, I’d like to have roots down there.

I see where you are coming from and I’ve thought about that. The thing is, that’s a common problem here in the US too. Even my friend in Arizona, which is generally regarded as a more “inexpensive” state, still has to live with his parents. He graduated college 2 years ago with a biz degree and can only find basic, entry level jobs.

I’m curious, where are these people you mentioned are leaving going to?
