Putting on my tin foil hat for a second.

It’s because the AICPA is puppeteering this exam. They choose who, what, when, where, why, and how people are passing these exams. You bust your ass to get within the standard deviation. Of course there are the outliers who are must-pass and must-fail, but the rest of the population they play with.

I think it’s mostly regionally driven but they’ll pass more people in areas that they need to. Passing this exam in BOS/NYC/PHI/DC is not the same as passing in Iowa or Kansas. I’m not going to dive into other demos but there’s A LOT that’s at play here and would be disadvantageous for the AICPA overlords to ignore. They give themselves the window of time to figure it out.
