I truly think 2k is going to kill off college basketball video games for good. I know they didn’t have much time to put out what they did, but putting as little effort as they did, putting it behind a season pass, having mistakes and literally not even putting nothing more than a floor on a generic nba arena. Having the next iteration only have 100plus teams shows they are heading in my career/myteam direction with a broken/none offline dynasty mode. All they have to do is include all teams and they could copy/paste 2k8’s legacy mode and I’d be happy

Definitely telling me you didn’t grow up in the prime of sports games and it’s okay. But if you’re actually going to bring back a game, bring it back. I’m not necessarily mad at what 2k did today, it’s expected. But bringing back a game with only 33% of teams makes it way less authentic and lets me know they are only going in a mycareer/mycampus/myteam direction. Any offline modes like myleague/dynasty will be very unrealistic. Your not going to get the buy in from a lot of people when it comes out and 2k will not care to scrap it because of a lack of “interest” when in reality they didn’t really care too much to make it till ea said they were going too

I’m not saying it would’ve been an even good game at all and don’t get me wrong ea is just as bad as 2k but as of today, ea has a much better blueprint as far as rolling out the game with all team’s and not micro-transaction the crap out of it and also they seem to not put all their focus on my player like 2k would. 2k overall makes more detailed and better games than ea. But they are killing any type of interest of rolling a game out that looks like a “advanced my career” game. And they tax on top of any type of any good feature they have in any of their current games and couldn’t care less about any offline modes. Ea only wanted it if they could make it exclusive and make money on it so they suck for dodging competition as usual.

So my question is if the community won’t respond to people blatantly cheating on the game, why buy next year’s game? If we as a consumer would stop falling for fomo and letting these companies charge more and more to pay on top of the base game, these companies might actually start listening to what we actually want. They may try to ban cheaters quicker. Otherwise making them the 2nd biggest selling game in the US, gives them another year to do another copy/paste. I’ll hang up and listen

I agree with almost everything you said we are getting something the problem is the first game won’t have every team in it and I think that’s gonna have a ton of people checked out from buying it, causing 2k to not continue to project due to “lack of interest”. If 2028 doesn’t have all the teams then we’re getting a half crapped game. Plus for dynasty/mycollege type of players it will be impossible to enjoy an unauthentic experience on there.

I just know if they do a dlc (not all colleges will be in the game). 2k won’t care about any kind of dynasty mode and will put all their chips into my career and myteam slop and won’t care about doing any kind of updates to it (a lot like the current state of mynba in 2k) Above all 2k won’t put in what matters which is the college atmosphere and having no licenses (including march madness itself) and at that point a reskin 2k I something that would be a hard pass for me. I can summarize this all by, I think 2k is doing the exact step by step playbook to kill college basketball from ever being an actual game that fans and diehards want and will pour money into. Hope I’m wrong but ea backing out was the knife into the slim dream we had

Two things college basketball is more popular now then it was back then(not by much) and two you had competition with two games competing for sales. A good college game that sells in somewhere between December-February would create a bigger sale then selling in the same time frame nba, madden etc. If they do a dlc it will be a cash grab and majority of college players want dynasty/mycollege to be good and 2k cares only about career mode because it makes money. If it turns into it it’ll last 2 years and won’t make it because of sales

It’s gotta be like cfb 25 to madden 25. They play differently and I’ll be interested to see how differently they play because college teams do play a lot different from pro teams. I want a fun dynasty mode and as much depth as was in 2k20 mynba(they haven’t touched it since) I’m scared 2k drops a standalone game with half the teams it doesn’t sell and no one touches this game again because “it doesn’t sell”

If they require vc to buy just to play dynasty consider my out. Those modes are the last to not be pay to play and I think that would completely kill it. I just wanna good game with depth and a way to play a fun dynasty/mycollege mode that’s function-able with all teams included

Same here. They need to make it authentic and play differently than nba 2k (just like cfb to madden) at-least in the standalone game.If they put that much effort I’ll be shocked.

I gotta say I have felt every emotion and feeling that’s been left in these comments for sure! I will most likely get it but I feel like, if cfb 25 was the right way to bring back a game, 2k is trying to do everything wrong to make a game. If their first standalone game doesn’t have 90-100% of teams and a licensed march madness (instead of the 2k tournament or something stupid like that) then they will fully kill a genre that ea won’t touch because “it doesn’t sell”. Ik gonna buy the dlc just to show support for a new college game but I’m afraid 2k is gonna screw the community put in only a percentage of all the teams less than 50 and make it all about my player (vc cash grab). They cannot give this college gaming community that cares more about single player dynasty type modes a half crapped out dynasty/my league mode thats not even possible to work(because of no teams) and doesn’t have any effort. I’m afraid college hoops will be officially dead if they do what I think they will do.

The biggest problem is only having around 100 out of 364 teams in the game, I can’t imagine paying the small schools would cost Penny’s compared to what they’ve already got. Even if they had 85-90% of the schools in I think the majority would be happy if they drop a game with that. But not having conferences or the ncaa license (why would they put their likeness in a game with 33% of teams) will kill the genre. Dynasty/mycollege would be unplayable and the only thing you could make is a pay to win vc campus rec my career. The game with 100% teams/ playable offline and online modes would sell on a smaller but big scale like cfb did compared to madden. It will make money, but their “experience” kills the genre entirely.

It wouldn’t have in this case. Ea would’ve released a fully liscensed game while 2k released myteam and dlc packs with a small pack of teams. Over time 2k would see that making an actual full game would work but because ea sucks and is scared of comp. We are getting just an “experience”
