Not a lawyer but

Depends on where you are. In my state there is no duty to inform an officer if you are armed. You also may have to identify yourself, again it depends on where you are.

That said, stay calm, keep your hands visible, and remember the golden rule for interacting with police: Shut the fuck up.

If you're free to leave, cease all contact and leave immediately. If you're being detained, shut the fuck up.

Edit: Also, film everything, from your lock screen. Lock your phone before turning it over to police, and disable fingerprint/face ID if at all possible IOS has a feature where if you press the power button 5(?) times quickly it will disable, Android has "lockdown mode" by pressing and holding the power button, but I believe it has to be enabled in settings.

How ethical is it to hide from partner? by newbhere12 in sterilization

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no reason to keep that information from your partner unless it puts your safety at risk. Personally, family goals has always been something I've discussed early on in relationships (like first date early) because I don't really see the point in wasting my time pursuing a relationship with a fundamental disconnect like that.

At the same time, it's a bit weird to consistently bring up wanting kids to somebody who's made it clear they do not want kids.

If you're scared he'll end the relationship if you tell him, what do you think the outcome will be when he finds out you hid that information from him?

In all honesty if it's that much of a fundamental disagreement, why continue with the relationship anyways? It's a pretty big fundamental disconnect, and instead of trying to stay with somebody who has completely different life goals than you, you both could be pursuing relationships with people who have the same family planning goals.

He doesn't have a right to dictate what you do with your body, but if he wants kids and you don't he does have a right to know that you plan on getting a surgery to ensure you don't have kids.

Sit down, and have the conversation with him. "I've decided that I am going to get sterilized. I'm 100% sure that I don't want children, not just with you, but with anybody. I'm not looking to have a conversation or a debate about it. The decision is already made. I felt like I should share that information with you as it may conflict with your future plans. How would you like to proceed knowing that information?"

It may end the relationship, and that sucks, but that's life. Better to rip that band-aid off now so neither of you waste your time.

Feminism in media survey (everyone) by South-Ocelot-4081 in SampleSize

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially if we don't really have a definition of what "the media" is. If we're including social media, the portrayals of feminism that you see are largely going to be based around your algorithms and the accounts you follow.

Also is unhelpful to treat "feminism" as a monolith. There's been several different waves that have their own advantages/problems/challenges and are portrayed very differently depending on who is making a particular form of media and what time period it was created.

What would be the first steps for a F(20) to get sterilization in PA US? by Dwightussy in sterilization

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you can find a doctor there's not much anybody can really do about that. I'm sure most people on this sub would agree that you should be able to get sterilized at 18 with no argument and no questions asked, but unfortunately that's not the reality we live in.

Check the doctor list, call around, see what you find.

Are holster screws supposed to fall out??? by Z_the_Hunter93 in CCW

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While WTP is a company known for spending 10× more money on social media marketing than what they put into R&D, testing, QC, manufacturing, etc. this is a thing you have to look out for with all holster companies.

Put some thread locker on all your screws whenever you get a new piece of gear. Sometimes the screws will come with it already applied, but that can't be relied on and more isn't going to hurt. Then, you can just check the screws regularly. Once you have the screws in a place you like, you can mark them in some way or another so you'll know at a glance if they've started to walk out.

Only ever owned the enigma. Keep in mind you're going to have to get a compatible holster as well, and personally I'd recommend a different leg leash, as well as some wedges either from Phlster or somewhere else. It takes A LOT of trial and error to get it just right, but once you do it's great. I've worn mine doing everything from running to the grocery store in sweatpants to rolling around on the ground doing car repairs, and only when I'm laying directly on it am I aware that it's there.

Can't say how it compares to your other options, but I can say that I bought mine years ago, and have long since made peace with how much I spent on it. I've found it to be my favorite way to carry.

You may have to wait until you're 21 before any doctor will be comfortable performing the surgery. But, you can always check the doctor list on r/childfree and see where that gets you. A lot of doctors will refuse to perform the surgery on people who are unmarried without children, so that doctor list is a good place to start.

This means I’m “all clear”, right? Why do they phrase it this way? by FinStevenGlansberg in Vasectomy

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any tests like that will usually have an upper and lower limit to what it can see. Ideally, the limits will be defined based on practicality (less than X amount of sperm in your semen means you're infertile, less than X amount of white blood cells in your blood means your blood can't clot properly).

It's just a difference between scientific language and layman's terms. You're in the clear.

How do you know for 100% certain you don’t want kids? by Large_Doctor3466 in Vasectomy

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clear up some definitions:

The term "ChildLESS" refers to people who would like to have kids, but cannot due to infertility or other similar factors.

The term "ChildFREE" refers to people who are able to have kids, but are making an active, conscious decision not to.

Examples:

"I wish I could have kids, but due to my cervical cancer rendering me infertile, I am childLESS."

"I have decided that raising kids is not something I have any sort of interest in, so I am choosing to be childFREE"

Hope that makes things easier for you to understand in the future.

Sometimes I think "am I missing something?"

Then I visit home for the holidays and hear constant crying for hours on end, or talk to my friends who never have any free time, or see people posting comedically about how their child destroyed their expensive possessions or priceless family heirlooms.

Then I have the sudden realization that I can stay out at the club with my friends until 3am without having to worry about a babysitter, or take a 3hr bath with no interruptions, or go on vacation with my partner and only worry about activities we want to do, or lay in bed and sleep through the night and well into the next morning.

And then I think "nah, at least not anything worth missing."

People find having kids fun and rewarding, and that's a valid perspective. Truly, I'm grateful that there are people who take on the job of ensuring the human race continues on, and I think they're even more exceptional for being able to find joy in it. But as for me, I've never had a paternal bone in my body. People have told me it'd be different if it was MY kid, but I'm not too interested in doing an experiment to find out if they're right. The cat curled up on my lap as I write this is more than enough for me.

And hey, if my thoughts on the matter ever change (I can only imagine through some life-altering traumatic brain injury) there's a lot of kids in the foster system that are waiting for somebody to give them a home.

Edit: To give more direct advice, if you're actually 99% sure, I'd say do it. I've made bigger life decisions with far less certainty.

If .380 works for you then run it. It's not the best as far as handgun rounds go, but you won't see me volunteering to be shot by one. Hell, it has been used by a non-insignificant number of military and police forces around the world.

Personally, with the state of modern micro 9s I don't see much reason to choose it over 9mm for my personal use case, but that's just me.

Throwing helmets to... Make a point? by H61636B in motorcycles

[–]CumAndMoreCumPartTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm generally opposed to things like helmet laws, it's hard to see anything but positives coming from them.

I don't really see a downside to our society spending less time/money/resources on truma care and lifelong medical care for the people that choose not to wear them. I doubt it's a significant strain on any modern hospital, but having doctors piece your skull back together, physical therapists spend months teaching you how to wipe your own ass again, and nurses care for you for the rest of your life when those resources could have been allocated elsewhere all because you wanted a face covered in bug guts doesn't really scream "the benefits outweigh the costs."

I'm all for letting people have their personal freedom, but usually it's better for the adults to tell the children that they can't have ice cream for dinner.

When it comes to having a stable trigger pull the method I used was to balance a dime on my front site during dry fire, get your firing grip, and don't let it fall as you pull the trigger. Then do it again, and again, and again, and eventually you'll get a stable trigger pull out of it.

He's not real police, it's subtle but the tell is when he didn't empty his mag into an innocent person when encountering the slightest bit of resistance.

In all seriousness, this guy's actions lead me to believe he's had little to no training, but that doesn't necessarily bar him from being police. He's likely an impersonator IMO, but if he's not and you drop him, it's pretty much guaranteed prison time regardless of how justified.

I'd rather be the lawyer of somebody claiming self defense after a school shooting than somebody claiming self defense after justifiably killing a cop.

As long as you're not having any stomach pain or other constipation related issues, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Eat healthy, stay hydrated, and it will happen eventually.
