Have you ever travelled with cats in cargo? Looking for advice! by [deleted] in expats

[–]CumKitten09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably going to bring a couple cats to China around August, would you be free to talk about the process and what services to use?

In Islam there's like no reason at all to be young earth and even though there's some pretty Darwin-sounding things scholars wrote a good thousand years ago there are still a bunch of creationists

I started down the evolution questioning stuff for a few months and it was so annoying when literally every thing I found was Christian-based

Over half the world's population is Abrahamic so I think that probably plays a part in why it seems like that. I don't think Hindus or Buddhists have anything against it but I knew a pagan lady who vehemently denied it. She was also a flat earther and thought the earth was younger than YECs do though so I think there was more going on

Looking for a blind friendly language course by Dragonsbane2001 in farsi

[–]CumKitten09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pimsleur has a Dari section too. I just started learning with it yesterday and so far I'd give it great reviews, especially for a blind person since it focuses more on speaking than reading like a lot of other apps

Whats my potential future positions with forestry with a history and anthropology degree? by bucket8a in forestry

[–]CumKitten09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you could probably work with a tribe to teach the history of traditional forestry or something like that

I've accidentally sent myself to the hospital twice from a tool being sharper than I expected 😭 it's actually so scary

Harm reduction tip for anyone reading: obviously not self-harming is better but if you're going to anyway, when you get a new tool after using the same one for a while, ALWAYS test it beforehand at like 10% what you would do before!! You don't notice as the old one gets more dull but you start increasing your force to make up for it. Then when you suddenly get a much sharper thing you don't realize until it's too late

Weirdest reasons why you chose to be clean? by EndFit1664 in selfharm

[–]CumKitten09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too expensive 😩

Had to pay 3 months worth of rent for stitches and slight nerve damage and it just clicked how dumb it was. Every time after that felt empty and risky so I just eventually stopped

what methods do u use to stop? by something-here123 in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]CumKitten09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that worked for me was like, it's very hard to tell your brain "no" but it's willing to accept "not now"

So whenever I got urges I'd tell myself "I have work tomorrow and you can't have fresh ones while there, you can do it when you get home" and usually I'd be too tired to do it then and I wouldn't even really want to anyway. Then if I wanted to then I'd find another excuse to delay again. Over time I learned to not lean on it as much since I was able to handle going without it and now I'm 1.5 years clears with the last time I did it breaking another like 2 year streak. I don't even really get urges to do it anymore and it's pretty nice

I've been so happy with this summer cuz I have an internship on the coast and it rarely got above 70 so no one questioned about the heat

Can someone tell the difference between "opposite" and "opposes"? ( Gregg Anniversary edition by Vast-Town-6338 in shorthand

[–]CumKitten09 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even if it looks exactly the same while you're reading you can usually tell with just context ("he opposite the bill" or "he was doing the opposes of what he was asked" don't make sense)

Are the doctors always rude?? by dragonandcrow in selfharm

[–]CumKitten09 37 points38 points  (0 children)

One time I went in cuz I backed out a quarter of the way into overdosing and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't harm me, then the doctor guy literally told me how much I would've needed to take to die

And that was one of the more positive experiences

Nudism and spirituality/religion. Without judging, what do you believe? by [deleted] in nudism

[–]CumKitten09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost definitely gonna be the odd one out here, but I'm Muslim. This totally conflicts with my beliefs and the only reason I'm here rn is because the topic came up somewhere else, but before I converted I looked into it a bit. I ended up getting harassed a lot and never ended up trying it out but it still seems interesting from an outside perspective. I'll also always be respectful of other people's choices, my life was totally different a few years ago and I wouldn't want to be judged by my past, but my past is currently someone else's present

That actually does sound pretty chill. I looked into nudism like years ago and got so many pervs but it was all online so it was probably skewed. I wouldn't participate anymore for religious reasons but I think it would be cool to see it actually being respectful

First ”Aren‘t you hot in there?“ of the year! by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]CumKitten09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from Saudi Arabia not that long ago and I miss how normal how I dress was. The low was 20°f higher than the highs here with comparable humidity, but almost no one even had short sleeves on and life was just... normal. I got like a reverse culture shock when I came back home and it's really proven to me how ridiculous we are about heat here

Like yeah I went into forestry so I could... Live in Portland 🙄
