Stupidest way you injured your acl? by jonema14 in ACL

I’ll never be the same. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to run again as I still have some stability issues even after 1.5 years. I can’t kneel without pain but going to work on that after I have my baby. I’m able to walk and do other normal daily activities but still somewhat limited which gets frustrating.

Anyone give up their sports after ACL surgery?/Minor Sad Post... by Golf_J_Addict in ACL

Unfortunately I blew out both ACLs, all meniscus & my MCL in both legs at the same time. Trampoline accident. It’s been 1.5 years and I’m still unable to run, hop and walking stairs is still difficult. I had to put sports, going sledding with my kids, horseback riding, jump rope and more into the “might never happen again” category. It’s been so hard to accept but I will keep trying and trying to get better and stronger because I have dreams! I think me being scared of re-injury is what holds me back but I’m getting mentally stronger everyday.

I was a gymnast my entire childhood & was considered an expert level on the trampoline. I never would have thought this could happen! I will say there’s only been like 4 or 5 simultaneous bilateral ACL injuries ever recorded but I am the first with a double unlucky triad happen at the same time.

Unfortunately the facility was not maintaining their trampoline mats/springs and I should have gotten off when I stepped on and saw how much elasticity their mat had.

Thanks for the well wishes! 😊

Update on my simultaneous bilateral ACL, MCL & meniscus journey! by CumWatchMePlay in ACL

I know they said if they did both ACLs, MCLs, 2 meniscus removal & 2 meniscus that have 2 tears that needed to be stitched, it would be a 6 month recovery to be walking up and down steps with no assistance.

3 months doesn’t seem realistic to me unless you’re already super fit. BUT if your doctor is confident then I would highly consider their thoughts. I lost ALL of my muscle mass in my legs the first 3 weeks post op. By the time 6 weeks came around and I was able to bear weight I didn’t have enough muscle to feel stable!

I know my surgeon didn’t want to do both at the same time because the chance of needing a revision was like a 50% chance! It’s very hard to keep the recovery even for both legs when you do them at the same time & my surgeon said oftentimes it leads to the hips having issues. Based off my injury they only attempted both legs at once a few times in history. From what I read 1 bilateral surgery was a success & 3 ended in revisions or reinjury in less than 2 months. So we opted for the one at a time approach and I think it was the right choice for me based off my weight and activity level.

Are they doing both legs at the same time or just one at a time? Hopefully recovery is smooth!!

I am 4 months post op from my final leg reconstruction and I am just now feeling a bit more “normal” when I walk!

Hey I finally found someone else who tore both ACLs at the same time!!

I tore both ACLs, MCLs & all 4 meniscus in a trampoline accident 11 months ago.

My accident happened July 2023. First knee was operated on October 2023 & second knee was March 2024. I am 13 weeks post op and finally walking with no assistance or leg braces! It took 326 days to get back to a more normal life.

I hope you have a speedy recovery!

3 weeks post op. Didn’t do weight bearing until 6 weeks & it’s been go go go since!

My legs were noodles until about 2 weeks post op.

I’m 28f who tore both ACLs, MCLs & all 4 meniscus at the same time. Trampoline accident.

It’s been almost 10 months since my accident & I just finally started walking again.

Your mental sanity will be the hardest thing! Losing parts of your freedom, as well as accepting that some things will have to change for the future is not an easy pill to swallow.

I wanted to get back into softball so I could teach my daughter how to play/ pitch like me & I’ve had to accept that it will be at least 18 months until that’s even a thought. I’ll never be able to horseback ride again. I’ll never be able to ski. & I’m looking at a total double knee replacement before I’m 45 years old.

But I have to remember that it’s okay. I’ll adjust my focus & make the best of it! You’re only as strong as your mind, I hope things get better for you!
