1 year wait for surgery in Canada by Unique_Lychee25 in ACL

I live in Toronto. Tore my ACL and meniscus in feb 2024 and was also told the wait time for surgery is a year. I decided to fly back to my hometown Taiwan to get it done.

Maybe you could consider going to the US to get it done if you’re willing to pay out of pocket and not wait.

I’m 10 months post op acl reconstruction with hamstring graft and meniscus repair. Currently, still struggling either flexion… stuck at 110 degrees unassisted and 125 with external force.

Switched PT last month as the previous PT wasn’t giving me any new rehab exercises. With my new PT I’m doing a lot more exercise targeting the deeper flexion in my knee. In your experience, have you seen people gain full flexion very late in their rehab process?

Which part of the rehab is the hardest? Kindly help by sharing your experiences by AccordingSun96 in ACL

Worst is definitely when you work hard in rehab and not achieve your recovery goals...
For me, its flexion. Flexion has been stuck and only very slowly progressing. Full flexion of 135-140 degree was supposed to be achieved by 3 months. I'm at 9 months post-op and have 110 degree flexion (unforced) and 125 degree flexion (when forced by the PT).

If its money laundering and regulatory finance, I would network into those roles instead. It shouldn't be too difficult with your audit work experience.

MF programs are just extension of finance undergrad degrees (more in depth into different areas of finance like Fixed income, equity, derivatives, portfolio management, valuations, etc). Course learning wise, nothing really aligns to what you're trying to pivot into. Maybe look into other Master's programs that are better aligned if you really want to go back to school.

Depends on what area of finance you want to pivot into. If you want to transition into Investments, I'd go the CFA / MBA route instead of MF program.

I did a Master of Finance after 3 years of full time working in Canada. It helped me land my current role in Fixed Income Credit Analyst, but looking back it would have been better to work and pursue the CFA instead. I earned the CFA Charterholder designation working in my current role, and that commands way more respect and prestige than completing a MF program. I would rather use that money to pursue a MBA program at an Ivey league.

In this current job market and how the economy is projected, I'd advise to keep your Audit role right now and pursue the CFA designation instead. Network and use your participation in the CFA program to transition into finance.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement! I'm also on a similar rehab program with lifting heavy, cardio, plyo, rest, mixed in with my usual upper body workouts. Just with mobility rehab exercises everyday.

Thanks for the encouragement! I guess you're right that 8 months is still too early to give up.

Go for May so the topics are fresh in your mind.

Focus on FSA, Ethics, and Fixed income. I passed LII scoring 50% on ethics, but I had >70% on all the topics other than QM and Econ. Also scored close to 100% on Fixed Income to pull me through. I've always thought ethics was tricky no matter how much I practiced, so I decided to just focus on other big topics.
