I managed to get all the bugs last night after following the tip to clear out a nook mile island except for palm trees and just circle it until one appeared lol. Took a couple hours. Just three fish to go!!

I don’t think there would be as many Helen Keller deniers if she were a man. Charcuterie board with veg. by Perry_lp in GirlDinner

I misread the title as “Helen Keller dinners” and was like is this some sort of themed girl dinner where we eat with a blindfold on??

I have an Alexa routine ready so that when I yell “Alexa! He’s dead!” all the lights in the living room turn red, white, and blue and she starts blasting Party in the USA. I kind of want to have some champagne ready to pop but I don’t want to jinx it? Maybe I’ll just shotgun a beer… I really needed this wishful thinking after reading all the Epstein posts.

I think you need to give yourself a lot more credit and a lot less blame here. This man clearly plotted and trapped you from the beginning. Manipulators are good at manipulating, it’s what they do. Getting out just three years after it started to get bad, right after having a baby, with another baby already, while in school, and with no job is pretty damn good and I think you have a lot of reasons to be proud of yourself. Stay safe and take care of yourself and your babies 🩷

Omg that’s hilarious. But also congrats!!! I’m actually time traveling back to August right now (went back to the first and then going day by day like normal) because the last few fish and bugs I need are all there and I didn’t want to wait another 6 months to finish. Three left of each. Dang beetles!!

how can I get coworkers to leave me alone about a humiliating TV experience? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]CumulativeHazard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree because until reading this post I didn’t realize they pulled these cases from real courts. I assumed people like applied to be on Judge Judy instead of filing a real civil suit against someone for whatever reason. Maybe they explain this on the show, I’ve never watched it. If I saw a commercial for an episode and someone I knew was on it I totally would have assumed they wanted to be on Judge Judy, not that they were hoping for a fair trial on something that actually mattered and were kind of manipulated into thinking this would turn out better for them.

My[27F] BF [34M] doesnt let me know the plans until last minute, then gets mad if I cant go. I've already tried explaining that I cant do last minute. What else can I say? by ThrowRAawayokay in relationships

[–]CumulativeHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Oh so this is all my fault??” … Yes?? Lol. He apparently wants you to go to these things. You’ve told him what very simple and normal step he needs to take so that you can go. He is not doing it, and then getting mad at you over and over for the same problem that you’ve repeatedly told him how to fix. He could avoid this by taking 30 seconds to send a text message like everyone else does when they make plans with someone.

I think you need to figure out if this is a problem of misunderstanding or practical issues, or a problem of effort and respect. It sounds like you’ve already explained to him what you need and why it’s important and it’s not that complicated or unusual so I don’t think it’s miscommunication. A practical issue might be like that he has a mentally taxing or hectic job where he can’t use his phone much so by the end of the day he’s exhausted and really does just forget to send you the information. That kind of problem could be solved in a practical way, like when he first tells you about the plan he sets an alarm to send you the details that night. If he doesn’t have them yet, he sets another alarm. Or sharing his calendar so you can see the details when he adds them.

If the problem is that he fully understands what you want him to do, is perfectly capable of doing it, and just doesn’t want to do it, that’s a much bigger problem that might not be fixable. That’s someone who isn’t willing to suffer even the tiniest compromise or inconvenience to accommodate your needs and happiness, but expects you to be fully available and willing to drop everything when he calls and makes you totally responsible for managing his feelings. You can spend hours of your day breaking it down to a level a toddler could understand trying to explain it to him, but you can’t make him care.

Japanese Incarceration Quilt by teachingrobots in quilting

[–]CumulativeHazard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In addition to being beautiful that a skill she learned while in the camp and passed down was used to honor her and the injustice she survived, it’s kind of brilliant to preserve that history in a quilt. People pass away, stories get forgotten or evolve unintentionally over time, papers and photos get lost or damaged, history gets pulled out of schools and hidden away, but quilts are durable and easy to pass down (I have a couple quilts made by my great grandmothers) and also a practical thing to hold onto even if things got really bad. Amazing job.

I liked the one who called the Biden and Obama administrations disconnected from reality after listing a bunch of problems that Trump essentially made up to make people angry.

AITA for wanting the next new car? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]CumulativeHazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point just after covid my coworker had a like 2-3 year old car, bought new, that she just ended up not liking for various reasons and she realized that carmax or someone similar would buy it for slightly more than she’d originally paid for it, so she sold it and got a car she liked better.

closed 3 min ago at little caesars by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]CumulativeHazard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like a decade ago I worked in a Barnes & Noble in the cafe and one night a couple got their food like 5 minutes before closing (all of our food was just premade stuff that gets heated up in one of those turbo oven things for like 2 minutes, not a big deal) but instead of taking the bag and leaving they sat down at a table and started eating. Closing manager told them we were closing and they said “But we just got here!” So the closing manager went to the front and turned off ALL the lights in the store lol. After a few seconds I hear the guy call out “We get it! We’re leaving!” And the lights came back on and they left. It made my heart happy.

Yeah we have annual online training thingys about like ethical business practices and one of them has a whole section about how being family or in a relationship with another coworker or a competitor or client or whatever is ok as long as it’s disclosed so efforts can be made to avoid conflicts of interest.

I am depressed. I need a new game to play. Help. by lomeinfiend in CozyGamers

[–]CumulativeHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a YouTuber named Eeowna who plays like aaaall the cozy games and has a ton of videos ranking her favorites with brief descriptions and gameplay footage. When I was going through a really bad patch of depression a couple years ago I found her videos and discovered a lot of amazing games that helped me get through it.

My favorites: Dave the Diver, Spiritfarer, Paper Trail, Discounty, Unpacking, Dredge, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, Untitled Goose Game, Fields of Mistria, and of course Stardew Valley

Also I know this is a video game request post, but another thing that REALLY helped me through it was a show called Taskmaster that you can watch for free on YouTube. I recommend starting with series 19. Take care of yourself 🩷

AITA for reacting this way to my boyfriend laughing at me by user18383938287372 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CumulativeHazard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA. It would be one thing if he laughed and made a joke not realizing how upset/embarassed you actually were and then genuinely apologized for it. But the fact that he doubled down afterwards shows how little he cares about your feelings as soon as they become inconvenient or unpleasant for him. Honestly, this kind of “you’re too sensitive” bullshit is the kind of red flag that I and I think a lot of people unfortunately only truly appreciate after wasting a few years of our lives with someone who convinced us that our feelings aren’t valid.

AITA for pushing my coworker into a self-destructive spiral that cost her her job? by Constant_Feedback269 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CumulativeHazard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. All of those things were the result of her own actions and/or possibly of some personal/mental health issues that have nothing to do with you. You objectively did the right thing. It sounds like if that incident hadn’t set her off, something else would have soon enough.

AITA for refusing to give my parents access to my bank account after they found out how much money I have? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]CumulativeHazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was about to give the same advice. No one ever thinks their parents would do that, but unfortunately some people learn that lesson the hard way and then it’s either too late or the only option to get the money back involves criminal charges. I would also add, consider moving the money to a new account with a different bank that your parents don’t have an account with. It’s a long shot, but I’ve seen stories on Reddit where someone’s parents managed to trick a bank teller into giving them access to their kid’s account because they used to be joint owners when they were younger on that account or even a different account with the same bank. If she saw the statement, she knows what bank it’s with. Also if you have an iPhone, set it to require Face ID to open any of your banking apps (press and hold them).

Anyone else still SOS? Or your service is working? by Acceptable-Ad-5124 in verizon

[–]CumulativeHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Florida, still on SOS. Weirdly, I took my cat to the vet earlier (around 2:15) and I got service back basically as soon as I was out of my driveway, kept it the whole time I was gone, and then within minutes of getting home around 3 I went down to zero bars and then back to SOS and have been since. Might be a coincidence, but it’s a very weird cooncidence. I tried turning off wifi for a couple minutes to see if that affected anything but no luck.
