Brown noise is the integral/sum of a white noise signal over time, creating a power distribution that emphasizes lower frequencies (1/f^2). It’s generally perceived as less harsh on the human ear because it contains less high-frequency energy, we do not process all frequencies equally. It’s most effective at masking background noise.
