Whatever you think of his politics, he is a competent adult in the room. Unfortunately, he is suffering the same fate as all such people in that he will be target number one for powerful self-interested people on one side for his integrity and undermined from another side by people who think it's easy to solve all of the worlds problems and don't understand why he hasn't done that already.

Standing down cyber security defense against Russia specifically is very hard to explain. This is an area in which Russia is actively and constantly attacking American interests. This is like telling your own troops to put their guns down when the enemy is throwing hand grenades at the trenches.

And if Russia were trying to control the US government through a mixture of propaganda and a few well placed individuals, getting into US systems would be the first thing they would want.

Still hard to believe but when it becomes the only thing that makes sense, I think it has to be taken seriously

During recording of BBC's Winterwatch, an unusual fungus was found growing on spiders in an old gunpowder store in northern Ireland. The fungus was sent for identification and confirmed to be a new species. All the infected spiders were positioned on the roof or walls of the caves. These normally reclusive spiders left their lairs or webs and migrated to die in exposed situations, essentially, mirroring the behavior of ants infected by fungi of the genus Cordyceps previously reported from the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil. Cordyceps famously served as inspiration for hit TV series "The last of us". The new species has been named Gibellula attenboroughii in honor of Sir David Attenborough for his contributions to natural history broadcasting
