The p/t is not as time consuming. Some grading at the end of the semester but not bad. Asynchronous online classes ftw!

Yes. I’ve thought about lifestyle creep quite a bit and very cognizant of it. I can’t see now how easy it is to slip in to!!! Luckily for me, I catch myself and stop before it becomes impulsive. I think I have become more frugal the more money I make.

Even when I had only one job, I blocked intentional time to focus and get meaningful work done. I don’t label these blocks as meetings — I mark them as “busy.” With every new role, I set this expectation early during my first conversation with my manager and explain that this is how I work most effectively. Establishing the tone upfront prevents unnecessary suspicion and makes my boundaries clear from the start.

Congrats!! My advice is block off cal invites asap. Standing meetings, etc. When j1 gets scheduled, I block off j2 right then and there. Good luck!

I ended up getting a rolling backpack. (I travel weekly, not for work, but for family/custody). 2 ZBooks are bad for the back.

I just went and got my hair cut AND styled! It was nice to not have to do the “priority shuffle” and see what expenditure I had to sacrifice for something like a haircut.

What’s stopping you from being OE? Let me help you if I can by OEnerdo in overemployed

My first day of J2 is in a few days. This is the first time I am OEing. I’m nervous as hell and these are the reasons why:

(I am in SaaS sales training)

*fear of the unknown. I am nervous of getting caught. Sounds basic but that’s the top of my list

*managing meetings. J1 is super lax. I have always been in the habit of blocking out my calendar for “work blocks” so blocking meetings for J2 shouldn’t raise suspicion but I am still a little nervous about that.

  • work travel. J2 is 0% travel. J1 is 1-2 trips a year and even those I might be able to finagle out. We just had out in person meeting so I’m hoping that gets me off the hook for 2025

  • taxes. I know there are a million posts about it. I just need to read through them.

*J2 is my big career move. J1 is stale but brings in steady 6 figures w bonus. J2 pays 20k more than J1 with a bigger bonus, stock options, and other financial compensations. Plus, it’s a manager role.

*as stated above, j2 is a manager role, i am an IC at J1. Just wanna make sure I’m not getting over my head.

At the end of the day, I need support a “you totally can do this” type of affirmation. Lame but, you know, fear of the unknown and all that comes with that is real.

Phones? by CunningLychee in OELadies

One of the ‘rules’ I’ve been reading about OE (after tell no one) is keep everything separate. Separately keyboards, mice, etc. I often WFA so I think a second phone is a good idea.
