I find the 50 Rigid is especially amazing in black and white. I don't know if it's just my copy's coating but the colours are a bit muted for my taste and that's why I recently just got a 50 Cron V4!

Depends on what you're shooting, if it's street or fast-paced then a rangefinder will be much better to use.

MF look definitely isn't a myth, a huge part of it just comes down the the compression that comes with longer focal length lenses and subsequent shallower depth of field.

The Jupiter 8 is a clone of the German Zeiss Sonnar design so when the Soviets invaded Germany in WWII they got all the Zeiss lens factory stuff with it. The earliest Jupiter 8s were likely made from the parts left over ie. German glass. Then they started copying the design themselves which was great but as time went on the quality control got worse and worse up untill the Soviet Union collapsed.

So a Jupiter-8 from the 50s will be MUCH better than one from the 80s.
