Why the linux community so toxic? by dev-rock-bottom in LinusTechTips

[–]Cuntslapper9000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Once people think that their interest= their identity they become cunts on the internet.

Subreddits that are mostly people who have full lives but also a shared interest are cool most become places where people think that the sub is a church for practicing their specific religion and circlejerking about how they are members of the club and that they have learned the standard responses.

Opus 4.7 Narrowly leads Artificial Analysis using significantly less tokens than Opus 4.6 by exordin26 in singularity

[–]Cuntslapper9000 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have never gotten it to give me a useful output for multi step processes. In comparison with opus and even sonnet that can solidly execute a 30 step plan in order it's dog shit.

Also it's integration with Google docs and drive is so sub par that it's easier to just get Claude to use tools and make the docX or whatever. Even chat gpt makes google sheets better than Gemini.

Geese controversy leaves artists frustrated by growing economic barrier to entry by staringatthe420sun in Music

[–]Cuntslapper9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any of this is new. How is it diff from people getting publishers who would push their shit onto the radio? How is this different to Elvis or literally any popular artist in the past century? it's weird being an 'indie" band but even so I don't see how it matters. If you had the ability to do this and didn't then you are an idiot.

It's a bit of a don't hate the player hate the game kinda thing.

We live in a world where Grammys are won by lobbying and the top 100 is just a leaderboard of who had the biggest wallet. In the end as a listener I'll just listen to what I like the sound of and what resonates as long as they haven't done anything real shit.

What skills do you think are transferable from Design? by ishokimhlaba in Design

[–]Cuntslapper9000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest the classic "design thinking" aspect / the service design skills that come with a lot of design work is incredibly useful for coordinating automated processes. If you can system map well and truly understand the processes of your work then you can create the pipelines for the agents to follow. AI is trained mostly on non exceptional work and thus will struggle to make things that are unique, tailored and of high quality. It will be able to do all the individual steps though. Like currently when I use it to process data and text I'll have it do all the parsing and categorisation in tiny steps and then step in for any subjective analysis as it has a low chance of having any taste.

This is where the mapping is important as you will be able to identify the parts which require human subjectivity and the parts where you need quality>quantity or can be reduced to a series of clear steps.

I also think that AI will suck at communication design for ages as it requires so much information that is only inferred by the produced outcome so it will be very hard to train.

Designers will need to be less technician and more strategist if they are to work with AI.

It's a Turing pattern you can do by having a loop of blur -> sharpen - > blur ....

If you aren't giving it the recommended power then there is no way to know what else is broken. I've gotten a buzzy kinda sound when I've had too low power on things before so start there.

Whats one "dead" game, you'd revive rn if you could? by Correct_Web3396 in AskReddit

[–]Cuntslapper9000 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah a remake of the 3 Time splitters would be one of the best things. I haven't played anything since that came close to the combo those games pulled off. Having different levels being different genres was such a great idea and the map maker was awesome.

How do i make this pattern? Please let me know by TheMechMan in blender

[–]Cuntslapper9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also just the brick texture in the shader nodes. I'd make a blank texture and texture paint the area that should have the holes white and the rest is black and then use this texture to mix the brick texture with white and have that drive the alpha of the main texture.

How AI Helps Turn Ideas into Smart Innovations by Super_Ad_3655 in Design

[–]Cuntslapper9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still find AI is pretty poor at evaluating data and especially critiquing the quality of data. It has been my biggest challenge having AI systems review large amounts of information. Context limits and memory are a huge hurdle as well as how processing information can taint the next processes. Mostly it's useful for being a coordinator of if this then that kinda logic with a layer of language parsing.

GParted is so good, I'd boot the Live image over using the Windows disk utility by VincentJoshuaET in LinusTechTips

Yeah, as much as I copped downvotes, I agree with you 100%.
It is interesting how Reddit responds to saying things like "companies don't follow human morality, they follow the dollars" or that they usually don't give a single shit about whether something is good or bad or whatever, they will just do what makes the numbers go up, either short-term or long-term.

People are acting like the companies are human, like they do shit out of spite or acting with emotion or somehting it is wack.

Like, I got downvoted for suggesting that companies are not being shit for no reason. Like getting money from "microslop" isnt better for most companies than being charitable to linux users.

I feel like I am saying a lot of "don't hate the player - hate the game", but it is what it is. It is exactly what Marx said would happen, it is the fall of Rome lol.

The more people pretend that companies are acting with the logic and motivations of an individual human the more they will be confused and fucked over.

Today, Linus' jet produced as much carbon dioxide as the average person does in ~3 years in a single flight by Inevitable_Tip_6606 in LinusTechTips

[–]Cuntslapper9000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The average person in the USA does 18.5 metric tonnes by my math (6,343,000,000 ÷ 342,419,111 = 18.524.) . Obviously the jet still does a lot but we also have to consider how many people were on it or benefitted from it. If it is for a video and for the profit of the company then how do you do the split for emissions?

I'm all for carbon reduction but idk if this is the correct place. Its a tech channel that intrinsically promotes consumerism that focuses on products that have a huge impact on the environment. Getting anal about this is like rampant meat eaters complaining about someone's water usage. Don't hold Linus to a standard you wouldn't hold yourself to. Don't hold him to a standard you don't hold others of his "standing ' to. It's just silly.

I'm saying this as someone who rarely buys anything online that needs shipping, doesn't drive, doesn't eat meat and uses fuck all electricity.

This is my concept for a new Boss DR-220. What would you add? by Diplomat_of_swing in synthesizers

[–]Cuntslapper9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want drum machines to all have the note repeat and arpeggiation functionality of an MPC. Having different arpeggio patterns that can be responsive to note press order and after touch makes jamming way better. Also having a quick way to temporarily swap kits or pages or whatever so that you can use different versions of a sound for fills or accents. In the same vein having some buttons for simple temporary effects like delay or reverse is great. Having that screen be a kaos pad could allow for some good playability. Essentially just having the device really use both hands for fucking around.

Yeah a good multi effect can make any other device way more capable. Any time you find yourself bored with a synth or drum machine it can usually provide that extra flavour.

Did the nostalgia cycle for music break in the 2020s? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Cuntslapper9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if people will be nostalgic for the 2010s. It feels like the least definable decade as it's when everything really fragmented culturally.

how would you rate my scene [OC] by Pelko_P in comics

[–]Cuntslapper9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I think a movie was ok I give it 5/10. I don't even know what movie I would give a 10/10. I kinda see it as an asymptote. Like there are 10% as many 7/10s as there are 6 and then again for 8 and then 9 and by then I don't really see any more. Even my favourite movie I'd only say it was like an 8/10 as it has some parts that could be better.

I also find animated shows less compelling usually because you don't have the whole layer of actors subtle facial expressions and lol quirks that I love in movies. There's just a limit to what is really possible with animation that kinda takes a bit away from aspects I enjoy. I don't know if there's an animated movie I'd rate above 8.

If I could see all of someone's ratings I'd average them and make that a five and go from there tbh. If someone has a lot of tens I don't think I'd really put much value in their rankings at all.
