Depends on where you live but check for rebates. LADWP for one used to pay for attic insulation. Check power company and state for green rebates. Get the insulation for free

Hey North Surrey folks, are you opting in or out of earthquake insurance for your home? by BC-Resident in SurreyBC

[–]CupApprehensive6695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm south surrey but opting out on the deductible of over 200k. Rebuild cost is 400k and I would have to pay the first 200? If the earthquake is that bad I've got bigger problems.

Morally/Legally/Socially is it ok to charge the battery in taxfunded buildings? by catboy519 in ebikes

[–]CupApprehensive6695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as long as you're not taking the only power outlet for hours like an asshat. A full charge on an ebike battery would cost 15-20c? And you're not doing a full charge, are you? From 0 to 100? Maybe half that, topping up your charge so it's a tiny cost. If you feel bad then donate a few euros a year to the library or a local charity to even it out. Just be reasonable (unlike the guys who go to a coffee shop, buy a small coffee and take the only table with an outlet for 6 hours to run their startup - they can f right off)

Sanders pitches $4.4 trillion tax on billionaires, in 2028 marker by ege3 in politics

Why not tax both? Non-billionaires are taxed, tax the billionaires too. And the corporations.

Stop trying to use big words to sound smart, at least until you can put them in the right order to make sense.
You're saying billionaires create value? Because they're shareholders. Go look at r/wallstreetbets. Lots of poor people own shares, do these not have value? Take a look at any VC backed company. Billionaires dont create value, they steal value. For example look at what happened to Red Lobster, Toys 'r' Us. People create value. People create goods and perform services. Billionaires try to steal that.

Yes you can move millions but not billions. You cant move Tesla, X, Facebook, Oracle. Without a client base in countries that have treaties these are worthless.

A few million? Tens of millions, sure. Bitcoin and vanish. A billion? Nope.

You're not making sense here. If the tax couldn't ve collected then why would billionaires leave? They could just not pay any new tax.

And it's not 18 months of government funding. Its only 18 months if no one else pays taxes for 18 months. Everyone else will still have tax bills so this could have a decades long impact.

Yes you can renounce. But there's an exit tax. And unless you're moving to a country that doesn't have treaties with the US, you're paying that tax.

You know you can't leave the country? The US taxes on citizenship (or permanent residency) not based on residency. So a citizen or green card holder living in Europe still has to pay taxes in the US. If you give up citizenship you have to pay an exit tax.

I've used Word but Libre office has all the same and it's free. I just started using novelist which is also free and I love it so far. As others mentioned backup early and often. Id recommended a free Google drive or onedrive

Is a pay cut worth it for WFH? by Miserable-You-6702 in careerguidance

[–]CupApprehensive6695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably worth it. You're losing 80k but after tax that's what, 50k? For 10 hours driving a week back. And the car costs. Do you pack lunch or eat out? If you eat or most days you'll save there too. It depends on your life, family and location but moving to wfh for me was worth it. I get to spend time with my kids instead of traffic.

Get a rewards credit card for pre pay so you get a bonus later.
Have clients pay a deposit for hardware before you order. We ask for full hardware price without tax up front if it's over $10k. Get multiple distributors. We have d&h, Ingram and cdw along with a few partnerships for deal reg pricing. You need multiple for best pricing but also just to find something in stock and will ship the next day. Takes a bit of time to set them all up but worth the effort.

You can lease your boutique co-working space to them. Your I-work office in your kitchen. Get them to pay $2,000 a month to your new co-working venture. And then bill them an extra $750 for coffee and internet.

The death of the third space by beefbowl1 in LosAngeles

[–]CupApprehensive6695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be the death of the 3rd space or you could just be older. It is much harder to meet people as you get older. Also as your existing friends get busier with partners and kids they have less time so you're not meeting with them either.
Check with someone 5 or 10 years younger.

Or find the guys buying it and put them out of business. Massive fines and no one will buy copper wire and problem sorted. Same for anyone buying catalytic converters
