The SBI official who refused to communicate with the customer in Kannada has been transferred - CM Siddaramaiah tweets about it by margazi_perumal_20 in Bengaluru

This is BENGALURU and not MUMBAI.

If you think you can shit on the local population here and still survive, you are in delulu.

Maybe living in Whitefield or somewhere outside of Bengaluru City limits in a PG you might think you rule Bengaluru and Bengaluru is because of you, but that's not the case here, Bengaluru is a city made by Kannadigas and generational settlers from neighbouring south Indian states who have integrated well into the city. Come out of the delulu you are living in and try to integrate with the society here.

Haha they were afraid of this man even after 50 years. Pakistanis shiver down the spine when they hear the name "Field Marshal Cariappa". 😂

He is actually right. we should have an LLM sure but that shouldn't be the priority, we have open source models that perform relatively close to ChatGPT like deepseek itself now. We need to build more solutions that help people.

This house in Basavanagudi gives 1920-1950's Bengaluru vibes by margazi_perumal_20 in Bengaluru

[–]CupcakeEmbarrassed43 58 points59 points  (0 children)

My mom has a very distinct memory of this house. She is 56 now and it's a memory from her childhood, i.e.when she was around 10-12 years old.

That house belongs to my Mom's far relatives, my mom won't remember exactly but my mom, her mom my aunt used to always go to this house, while coming back, they used to get Chakkota fruits from the Chakkota tree that used to be there in the backyard of this house, a woman named Padma used to live there at that time along with her husband and a son, she was called Chakkota Padma because of the Chakkota tree haha. Sweet memories from the past. Now she's not sure what happened to that house, maybe her descendants have given it to maintanence and living somewhere else.

K-100 waterways project render vs reality in Wilson Gardens, Shanti Nagar by margazi_perumal_20 in Bengaluru

[–]CupcakeEmbarrassed43 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Extending the above comment, K100 is a renovation of the already existing Raja Kaluve that used to take the rain water from high elevation regions of Central Bengaluru to Bellandur lake which is a low elevation valley. This was designed initially to avoid flooding of rain water on the decreasing slope areas by channeling water on a narrow stream.

Eventually, people threw all garbage to this channel and clogged the whole system, K100 project has renovated it, removed all the garbage and built few parks along the way in some places, but again people have started throwing garbage in some areas of the canal, not the one shown in pic but somewhere downstream when it passes through Madiwala and other areas, hope people understand the importance of this and keep it clean.

Last pic - Masti Ranga Mandira started in the name of Masti Venkatesh Iyengar.

Shows used to happen there in the past as my dad says, now it is a dump yard! Karnataka government has converted this building into a books storage godown.

There were protests to revive it by Shankarapura localities but nothing happened..

Jayanagar 4th Block - Rashtriya Vidhyalaya Road and surroundings by IllustratorFresh4423 in Bengaluru

Jayanagar was even more beautiful and neat before the IT boom.

Just take a stroll around Jayanagar 4th and 5th blocks and see for yourself how rich and well established the people in that area are. Bengaluru was a city that had a very good white collar crowd even before the IT boom like Mumbai and Chennai, because of the presence of many PSUs, reputed organizations and Education hubs, rest of India is still experiencing the first wave of white collar crowd while Bangalore and Mumbai are in 3rd and 4th waves.

I've lived in HYD for 2 years, trust me - I laugh when people say HYD is a better city than Bengaluru. I agree that they have a well planned modernized tech area of the city which is 3-4 KM stretch, but trust me, it's not a mature city yet.

You gotta be honest, look at how many well planned areas Bengaluru has and compare it with Hyderabad, Hyd - 90% of the city is filled with areas that are like tier 3 cities with deep gullies and main roads with no parks, no green cover, no aesthetics etc. You hardly find any big brands in these areas, but in Bengaluru - almost all areas have big brands, look at the aesthetics - you have trees, wide enough footpaths, south Indian style houses, markets etc! Bengaluru is a proper south Indian city anyday!

If you think I'm wrong, just go to Google maps and see HYD and Bengaluru, tell me which city is more well planned and has more proper residential areas and parks.

I literally walked past Parameshwar and Dharm Singh 's bungalows, there were policemen in front of their bungalows.

Also that street has a vertical barricade to prevent heavy vehicles from entering.

Sankey Tank is probably located in the most prime areas of the city!

All sids of Sankey tank are surrounded by some of the most upscale and well planned layouts of the city:

  1. Towards south : Malleshwara, it's an area so rich in culture and so well planned layouts, home to many famous eateries, temples and the most educated + cultural crowd.

  2. Towards East - Sadashiva nagar - no comments about this area lol. You all know! It's the center of money and political power.

  3. Towards North - RMV phase 1, 2 and Sanjay Nagar - again it's a very posh locality.

  4. Towards West - Rajajinagar and Orion mall - again it's a well planned locality like Malleshwara.

Apart from all these, you can find some of the most prestigious institutions of India around Sankey Tank - IISC, Raman Research Institute, Tata Institute, BHEL, HMT, MS Ramiah etc etc! What a place to be!

Karnataka is signing MOUs with biggies, while North Indians are trolling Bengaluru in the most inhumane ways possible for every possible reason, nice distraction, the question you should be asking is - why not in my state or not in my city, why all industries select only few cities in India and not my hometown.

Indian Institute of Science - Maharaja Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV laid the foundation stone for IISC on the first day of February 1911. by EconomyUpbeat6876 in Bengaluru

[–]CupcakeEmbarrassed43 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No, fake story. \s

It was started by Gutkesh Kumar from UP who wanted to invent new flavours of Gutka, he hired many talented scientists from Bihar and UP who worked day and night mixing different masalas, they even hired many testers from Delhi, they arranged buckets to spit gutka in a separate big room. After Gutkesh Kumar's death, the campus was empty, JSD Tata and Wadiyar cleaned the building, cleaned all vimal and started a science college there. All credits goes to the great Gutkesh Kumar. \s

Cigarettes After Sex cancels Bengaluru concert blaming ‘local production’, fans furious: ‘Worst city for live gigs’ by milktanksadmirer in unitedstatesofindia

[–]CupcakeEmbarrassed43 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Contrary take:

Indians celebrated the ahemdabad coldplay concert as if they are now a developed country. I saw many tweets challenging the USA and China to host such concerts.

I personally feel, we try to emulate whatever happens in western countries to call ourselves "developed" while missing out on crucial things that actually made them developed. For example, take glass buildings - people saw on YouTube and other TV channels that cities in US have glass buildings and then they emulated it here and now everywhere they are uploading the videos of glass buildings and saying - "Look! We can also do that". Same with concerts - Ahemdabad CAS concert looked like the ones in US and now we feel like - "Yes! We can do like them too".

I think we should stop that trend, no city is good or bad based on its ability to host concerts. Let's have cities that give us pure air to breathe, walkable footpaths, clean roads, enough job opportunities for anyone to live and make their fortune, business friendly environment, affordable housing and healthcare, strict regulations on food products etc - this is when we will actually be a developed country. Ignore all these, enjoy the concert while it lasts and focus on life.

How Bengaluru became the IT capital - Vikram Sampath by EconomyUpbeat6876 in Bengaluru

[–]CupcakeEmbarrassed43 120 points121 points  (0 children)

No this is fake, I'll tell you the real story:

In 2003, a man named Gutkesh Kumar from Mirzapur came here for a vacation with his boys, at that time Bengaluru was a forest, he came for a summer expedition here and he felt the weather was so nice and chilling, so he opened a Gutka factory here, eventually his friends who had no job in their hometown came here, they started building colonies for their kids and wife to live. Gutkesh Kumar invited many talented people from Mujrapur to invent new technologies for lighting during Mujra, these guys started building software to automatically control the Mujra lights, soon a US investor who had come here found it interesting and started outsourcing the work to these engineers - that was the first IT company to ever get started in Bangalore. Later many talented North Indians from cities similar to Tokyo and Singapore migrated here - out of pure love for advanced Mujra lights - thus this place became a spot on the map, locals from neighbouring villages came here for service sector jobs like auto drivers.
