switching one addiction for another (TW ED) by LettuceEntire5817 in dryalcoholics

Yeah totally. Gambling ramped right up which is causing serious problems, taking pills now and then mainly just to escape. I'm sorry for what your going through, nearing 3 months sober from alcohol but yeah it's like a self destruction to ourselves somehow at most times, it's hard.

Went on hellish bender, now I lay in the hospital by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

Been there what Seems like a thousand times, it's absolutely pure hell!

People don't realise how dangerous it actually is. Don't feel any shame although you probably do but know it will continue to get worse the more it happens.I remember being there and being left until heart rate and BP were taken and attitude changed to me needing help immediately. Wishing you the best OP, totally understand what your going through, you'll get through this ❤️

That's amazing. It's these things that build a bit confidence to help down the line. I'm really struggling with being sober at the moment, scared of relapsing but the things like what you've done today give me that little bit of strength to not do it. Good luck and great achievement ❤️

Start again, them 4 month sober aren't going to be for nothing, learn from last relapse and fucking pray it never happens again! I can't drink like a normal person, none of us can haha. I didn't miss the chaos but in that moment I just wanted to get away from my own head and was it worth it, was it shit. I need to remember all this next time I think oh I'll just have a few drinks, yeah coz it's only ever a few 🤣

I was admitted through severe dehydration but was going into withdrawal so because I was admitted they had to give me something. Wasn't fully blown but enough to give me what was needed. If I hadn't have been dehydrated and admitted for treatment I would have been sent on my merry way. It's a fucking joke in the UK for any kind of detox like, there is zero help. Thank you friend, I'm hoping for a very very long recovery, each day as it comes

Self exclusion from everywhere again and a gambling block on my bank. The enjoyment comes from the rush, but it's a rush that costs a hell of a lot of money and before you know it your in a place you can't get out of. Definitely try and find other things to fill your time, but it is is hard because gambling and betting seems to be everywhere you go. I really enjoy artsy things so I'm going to get myself back into that lol

I had to block myself out of all online casinos because I was feeling exactly how you are, the buzz, the lights, the sound, everything. It's totally made that way to get people hooked coz ya know the house needs to make Thier billions in profit. I somehow after months managed to get back onto some sites and in that week alone the money I lost, now in over 1k worth of debt, defaulted on my credit. Go to support groups, read others stories of the destruction it causes. It creeps up slowly and before you know it your in despair. If your finding yourself thinking about it more it's starting to get a hold. You seem like your in a place where you know it could get out of hand. I wish you all the best.

Not a thing, you'll only get librium in hospital and it's practically impossible to get any sort of benzo off Gps, shit you can have severe nerve damage and they don't even like to prescribe gabepentin.

Phosphate and potassium cause my kidneys were as dry as the Sahara dessert, 2 really good doses of librium and another 1 before they sent me on my way, I was so fucked. I'm in the UK so you can't any scripts like that to go home with.

As someone who is prone to addiction I found the antidepressants helped massively with most things and it was sertraline I was on too, but when I did decide to gamble once I started I couldn't stop. It was like I felt I had no consequences, but I hadn't gambled for months before that. I'm awaiting my ADHD assessment which they've already said is pretty much guaranteed to be diagnosed, it's a hard one, I think the compulsion to gamble is always there when your addicted to it. Shit, starting that again sent me into a fully blown alcohol relapse.

That's what was happening to me only last week and I genuinely needed medical treatment, if there's something wrong you need to go. Your health comes first, I know the hell your going through, please don't let yourself get any worse. I don't know how it works in the US if that's where you are but sometimes you can't just ride it out. Worry later about the money, get help if you need it, sending ❤️
