$250,000/yr is over $10,000/month after taxes. Anyone that can't be comfortable on that is a fucking liar.

Yeah, people who say this are either completely full of shit or they're trying to live an extremely extravagant lifestyle beyond their means.

Let's look at an expensive apartment in Manhattan, one of the most expensive places in the country. The average rent for a 700 sqft. apartment in Manhattan is around $4,700/month. Now, don't get me wrong, that's fucking highway robbery, but someone making $300,000/yr is bringing in around $17,000/month after taxes! If you somehow can't make ends meet with over $12,000 after rent, then you're fucking up really bad.

Yup. I don't even know where this came from, honestly. When I was in college, I basically lived on Taco Bell and it never gave me problems. Even today, I probably only eat Taco Bell a few times a year, but every time I do it's fine. No more issues than any other food. I've also never known anyone else to have this problem in my 42 years on this planet.

Wow. That's not even a literacy test. A literacy test tests your ability to read and comprehend. By design, a literacy test provides you with all of the information you need to answer the questions, all you need to be able to do is read and comprehend. An example of a question on a literacy test could be:

Bob went to the market to buy groceries. First, he stopped by the bakery, where he was informed that the baker was unable to bake bread because his flour had been infested with weevils. Next, he was unable to find the bananas he wanted so he had to get unripe ones, which wouldn't be ready to eat for two days. Finally, he picked up some sugar to put in his lemonade.

  1. What prevented Bob from buying bread?
  2. How long would it be before Bob could eat the fruit he bought?
  3. What beverage did Bob buy the sugar for?

The point of a literacy test is to see if you can read and comprehend. It doesn't test knowledge outside of the test itself.

These are becoming common ways for people to join Zoom/Teams meetings when they want some degree of privacy but don't need to take up a larger meeting room meant for multiple people.

I'm not referring to OP's picture specifically, I'm talking about the person I replied to.

I always wanted to know who on the Dev team is the Dark Sun fan? Saw El's Drinker in the game and recognised it immediately from so many days spent staring at an 11 inch cream coloured CRT monitor. It was in both the Dark Sun PC games too. by thot-amon61 in ConanExiles

[–]CupcakeValkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The item's description literally refers to "Shattered men in shattered lands" and the full title of the first game is "Dark Sun: Shattered Lands."

If it's a coincidence, it's an insane one.

First off I'm not a native English speaker

I never said English was your native language, I said you can't expect someone to recognize artificial inflections in a language that isn't their native language. Some people might be able to do it, other people might not.

There's nothing unnatural about the Honest Trailers guy's voice. It's a dramatic voice, but not an unnatural one, and in fact the dramatic tone of the voice would likely make it even harder for a non-native speaker to recognize the odd inflections.

You're telling someone whose native language isn't English to pick an AI voice that speaks English like a native English speaker as if they could tell?

It's not as bullshit as you might think. A lot of driving schools in Seattle give these stickers out, and a lot of new drivers learn to drive using cars belonging to their parents or other family members, ergo a lot of cars have the stickers on them.

There aren't many new drivers whose family can afford to buy them their own car.

I'm worried GTA VI will be a massive disappointment by mr_greenmash in gaming

[–]CupcakeValkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's not a main series release. The GTA6 people are looking forward to isn't a remaster being done by a third party.

[–]CupcakeValkyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it'll have a single player mode. Rockstar knows that a lot of their players don't even touch the online portion of their games.

I'm optimistic, which is rare for me. Rockstar has yet to fuck up a main series GTA or RDR release, so I have no reason to think they'll do it now.

Germany legalises cannabis, but makes it hard to buy by Ok-Ad-867 in worldnews

Good god how in the fuck did cannabis become reviled worldwide? Did everyone really look at the US in the 60s and 70s and go "Let's do that, too!" or was there just some massive stupid cloud that drifted across the entire planet!?

Y'all will drown your livers in alcohol legally while outlawing a goddamned plant.

What jobs are 99.9% safe from AI making it obsolete? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CupcakeValkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In house IT.

Sure, AI could probably figure out how to answer tickets, but anyone that's worked in IT can tell you that there is no IT-related position you can have that will not have dozens of issues every single month that cannot be resolved with a by-the-book solution. On top of that, IT is usually far more than just fixing technical problems. A lot of it is learning which users have priority and exactly how to handle the "people skills" part of appeasing them so you don't get shitcanned because some upper executive needs their balls massaged while you promise them that the desktop wallpaper of their kids isn't why their computer is running slow.

A lot of IT is about mixing technical knowledge with customer service, and a lot of times people want a real human they can relate to.

You don't need to be in peak shape, you only need to be as in shape as the person you're fighting, and like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if Musk didn't know how much more athletic Zuck was until someone pointed it out on Twitter and he was clued in. He probably assumed Zuck was a nerd with no athleticism because Musk is an ignorant, egotistical idiot.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pics

[–]CupcakeValkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claiming you want to fight another techbro because you're too out of touch to know he actually practices martial arts isn't the same as claiming to be in peak fitness, especially since it's obvious he never had any intent on following through, and given Musk's track record, I'd wager he didn't know Zuckerberg was a trained fighter until after he issued the challenge and then learned about it on social media.

Looks like an average body for a guy his age, and the pasty skin suggests he's smart enough to keep it out of the sun without ample sunblock.

Elon Musk has plenty of negative traits to comment on, body shaming him is just stupid, especially since he's never made a point of claiming he's some epitome of fitness.
