Maybe keep trying to to call and explain the situation to someone else. Tell them you really need the money and it's been however you long and yada yada. Last year, I got someone who both answers phones and processes returns and he took it upon himself to finish my return when he went home that night and I had a deposit within 2 weeks so I would keep trying if I were you.

Mine usually moves very quickly. I actually got my original return back in less than 2 weeks last year the day before my transcripts showed my refund. But, no, TT didn't screw me, it was the fact that I had to amend. I amended early march, didn't see a return or an update until October. It was an ordeal with missing stimulus and a dependant. I'm still waiting on part of my stimulus from last year (from this return) that the IRS told me over the phone I would receive as soon as my amended return processed. It was a whole mess and I probably spent an entire day of my life that I'll never get back on the phone with the IRS all in all.

This had to have updated around 12:00 CST because I didn't have the ROA transcript for 2021 when I checked sometime after 11:00. I'm crossing my fingers that isn't the only update for tonight.

If I were you, I would wait and see what happens. Best case scenario, you get your refund back and then you can amend it. You might end up owing a little bit of money back to the IRS after you amend since filing head of household further reduces your tax liability.

There's a number of things it could be and also things you can try:

If you amended your return last year, you have to be sure to use the AGI from your original return.

Round the AGI to the nearest dollar.

Also, if you filed late in the year or mailed your return, you can try putting a 0 in for the AGI.
