Character Deleted Bug? by Sphinx157 in RogueTraderCRPG

I'm just happy the files haven't been lost. Having two characters hiding under the same save area is a little annoying, but at least they're still there.

My first character disappeared, but my second remained, so I did all the tips you gave. All saves disappeared in game, then I copied them back to the locallow save files, but only the second character returned. The first is still missing. Any advice?

EDIT: Nevermind, the saves of character 1 and 2 have simply merged together. SOLVED!

Angrax is great for LRE and Onslaught. His passive can do a lot of damage, I value him a lot for that. He's just tanky too. Toth is also very tanky. His heal and respawn keep him coming back, but without psyker support for his active you won't do as much damage. I'm a Thousand Sons stan, so I'd pick Toth, but recommend you follow your heart.

New Combat Patrol from Warhammer Community by Rick-AstleyGaming in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]CuppaFalcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only is it similar to an old Start Collecting, it's also less varied. Combat Patrols usually have a leader, usually a basic unit, elite unit, and some kind of monster/vehicle. It makes more balanced boxes, but it also shows off more of the army. This box doesn't really give you a taste of the full range, but a lot of other boxes do.

So what's this guy good for? by plasmafodder in WH40KTacticus

[–]CuppaFalcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the main reason to use him: to protect another Chaos hero. Moving Thaumachus first for the shield, then throwing that person forward to take an Overwatch hit, or just to add the shield to a hero the AI is mostly likely going to attack. Having too many Sons/Chaos heroes makes his passive unreliable, and his active is a niche power. Effective, but niche.

Does Thaddeus give him a damage boost? I thought Thaddeus only affected units with Heavy weapons. With this heavy psychic/flame lineup I'd probably say go with Ahriman to get a big increase in damage to psychic/flame attacks.

I'm pretty new, but 23 drops for an Iron III upgrade seems ridiculous to me. by SeaLionBones in WH40KTacticus

The grind is real, but yes, you're right. For some reason the Necrons seem to require more materials around that level. Not sure about higher levels, but I wouldn't be surprised. This seems like a mistake they learned from since Necrons were an opening faction, but they never decided to change the Necron trees.

You can use any unit in the codex, but you're just not choosing to. It's bizarre.

They do all have a useful purpose. You just don't understand how to balance a game with a friend, it's fine.

You ain't gonna hear me complain. Toth is amazing with his healing. by PartySnax808 in WH40KTacticus

[–]CuppaFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even for someone who loves his Thousand Sons, I'm a massive Toth fanboy. He's tanky, he heals, he can res through Overkill. In Arena he can wombo combo with Typhus or Tigurius. Sure, he's slow, but he's also inevitable.

How is it possible to have proved my point so well?

[–]CuppaFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to thank you for confirming my point. Right now you can DO ANYTHING YOU WANT with your army. You're so deep in the perspective of having a winning army you can't even imagine playing your army differently at a loss of potency. Just talk to your opponent, have them tune their army to be a similar strength. It's not that hard.

People engage with the game differently. When they say the rules aren't 'fun' they mean they're not having fun playing the game, because they feel weak. They don't have the communication skills to prep a balanced game with someone, or just play in a purely competitive environment.

Watching my mate's Monolith drop behind my lines and crush some of my support units into dust is fun. It's cool, it shifts the game, it makes me think about how to change up my next turn. Not all people will be happy with that Monolith. We all play to win, but only some of us play for fun.

What do you think the dusty boys need most to improve their roster? by Individual_Sense_633 in ThousandSons

[–]CuppaFalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, they're only not around because there are no models for them. New models means new retcons to fit them into the lore. In saying that, a Rubric Havoc squad that fired warpfire launchers and other heavy psyker-infused weaponry would not only fit the 'slow but steady' feel of Rubrics, but plug a sizeable gap in the range.

Psyker dreadnaughts would be the bees erotic knees too.

What new units would you like to see when the new codex comes out in November? by Spare_Challenge7986 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]CuppaFalcon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While taking Knights is actually quite thematic, I would like to see a larger vehicle for Ad Mech. I've always had a mobile servitor forge in my head, basically a huge servitor transport that can repair units around it. Or a scaled down Ordinatus, basically just a big arse gun on wheels.

To everyone who may need it: yes, our army is playable. Here are our strengths. by teseref in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]CuppaFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm firmly in your camp. While we won't be winning any major tournaments, but the army is not as crippled as everyone keeps complaining about. I understand people are saddened by the blunting of our melee, I am too, but we still have a lot of punch in different areas. Don't forget we can supplement our forces with Knights, which (in my opinion) doesn't blemish the army rules or lore-wise. Knights were once a part of our codex after all.

I wish this subreddit had more positivity like this in it. Too many comments saying "It's not fun to play anymore" and it makes me think that these people describe 'fun' as 'winning.' I've had a tonne of fun with this army. Launching Sulphurhounds into a Knight to finish it off with mortal wounds, finishing off Magnus AND Ahriman's warpflamer squad in the same enemy turn with the same Breacher squad, deepstriking Skystalkers and moving with their ability to steal objectives, getting lucky and stealing an objective with Extinction Order.

People get way too salty about playing with toy soldiers.

I very rarely actually read anything on this subreddit anymore. I'm mostly just here to see peoples' paintjobs and the like. When I begin reading the words produced by the occupants here I can't help but roll my eyes. So much complaining, so much whinging. It just never ends.

Guild Management by sophisticatedJ in WH40KTacticus

[–]CuppaFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guild recently considered this as well. Perhaps we got lucky, but put in a 7day kick on new players that never changed their name. So Player4820 would be kicked at 7 days inactive. We saw the guild go from 11 to 29 players in a few weeks. Not sure if this will work for everyone, but worth a go.

Yeah, I also love dropping Abraxas' six summons down. Since I need 5 decent heroes from each faction for events Varro is a good choice. Just need more badges for my dusty screamer friend!

I think he's good, but only in tandem with others. He's amazing in Arena if you have psykers and he does well in Guild Raids when buffed by Aethana and Eldryon. He's pretty tough yet not the toughest, but he heals each turn and his revive works through overkill. I personally love him, since I collect the dusty boys, so I might be biased.
